Description:

Sejak diluncurkannya Albacore pada tahun 1953, perkembangan revolusioner desain bentuk kapal selam telah dimulai. Bentuk hidrodinamis tetes air berkembang menjadi bentuk umum badan kapal selam modern. Pengembangan bentuk eliptic bow dan parablic stern, perencanaan parallel middle body yang proporsional, serta variasi rasio panjang dan diameter (L/D) dari lambung polos (bare hull) diharapkan dapat menjadi sebuah solusi untuk mendapatkan rancangan kapal selam yang mampu mengeliminir pressure drag dan skin friction yang merupakan dua komponen pembentuk total drag kapal selam. Dengan begitu, optimalisasi kebutuhan daya penggerak dan kecepatan service untuk memenuhi misi kapal selam dapat dilakukan. Pada Tugas Akhir ini dibahas mengenai analisa permasalahan diatas melalui pemodelan menggunakan simulasi komputer dengan bantuan software CFD (Computational Fluid Dinamics). Penggunaan simulasi CFD ini sangat tepat karena perancangan masih dalam tahap conceptual design, sehingga jika dilakukan pemodelan fisik, akan membutuhkan biaya yang besar dan waktu yang relatif cukup lama.

Since the launch of Albacore in 1953, revolutionary expansion of submarine model has been started. Hydrodynamic shape of tears drop grows towards modern submarine with a common shape. Developing the shape of eliptic bow, parabolic stern, and proportional parallel middle body planning, as well as variation on length to diameter ratio (L/D) from bare hull is expected to be a solution to obtain submarine design that eliminate pressure drag and skin friction which constitute two components of total drag on submarine. Thus the optimalization of power requirement of the prime mover and service speed to fulfill submarine mission can be done. In this final project, the above problem has been analyzed by mean of Computational Fluid Dinamics (CFD). The use of CFD simulation is completely appropriate because the design is still in conceptual design level. Physical model on the other hand, is inappropriate since it will take a lot of cost and time consumate.
