ABSTRAK

Metalografi mempunyai peranan yang sangat penting dalam bidang industri maupun riset terutama yang berhubungan dengan logam. Ukuran butir grain size merupakan salah satu nilai dari pengamatan metalografi yang penting untuk diketahui. Dalam tugas akhir ini dirancang dan dibuat program aplikasi untuk mengukur grain size dengan metode Jeffries Planimetric Heyn Intercept dan Graff-Sneyder. Program dibuat menggunakan bahasa pemrograman Microsoft Visual Basic 6. Prinsip kerja program aplikasi ini menggunakan metode pengolahan image kemudian besar butir dihitung dari panjang intercept rata-rata andjumlah butiran per milimeter persegi. Input berupa file gambar bitmap. Validasi dilakukan dengan membandingkan nilai keluaran program dengan nilai grain size input sehingga diketahui besar errornya. Dari hasil pengujian program dan analisa data terlihat bahwa besar error yang terjadi relatif kecil dan berkisar antara 0.5-7 sehingga tingkat keterandalan program aplikasi cukup besar. Optimalisasi kinerja program juga dipengaruhi oleh pengaturan tingkat sensitifitas dan piksel batas treshold.


ABSTRACT

Metallography has very important function in both of research and industrial field especially related with metals. Grain size is one of metallographic inspection value whichs important to be observed. This final project plan and make application software to measure grain size by using Jeffries Heyn and Graff-Sneyder methods. This software is made by using programing language of Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 . The principle method of this software is using image processing then grain sizes calculated from the mean intercept length and number of grains per square millimeter. Its input is bitmap image files. Validations done by comparing softaware output values to input grain size values. So that errors value are known. Based on software testing and data analysis its known that error values of software output are small for about 0.5 7 so proper level of software is good. Software runnings optimalization is also influenced by sensitivity level and treshold limit pixel determining.
