Aseton-n-butanol-ethanol adalah hasil fermentasi dari limbah tandan kelapa sawit, yang umumnya dipisahkan dengan kolom distilasi berurutan. Untuk meningkatkan nilai ekonomisnya, pemisahan ketiga komponen tersebut digunakan kolom distilasi tunggal dengan sidestream. Untuk mendapatkan komposisi produk yang stabil, maka diperlukan pasangan kontrol yang baik. Penelitian ini didahului dengan merancang kolom distilasi yang meliputi penentuan jumlah stage, refluks rasio, letak stage umpan masuk dan letak stage sidestream keluar. Kemudian mensimulasikannya ke dalam software Hysys v2004.1 mode steady setelah itu diubah ke dalam mode dynamic dan dipasang controller agar sistem tersebut steady bila diberi gangguan. Proses yang telah stabil pada mode dinamis diberi gangguan pada laju feed, laju refluks, laju sidestream dan panas reboiler. Dari setiap gangguan pada setiap pairing, dicari parameternya yang kemudian dilakukan on-line tuning metode Continuous Cycling Ziegler-Nichols untuk Pengendali PID dan langkah tuning berbeda untuk Pengendali MPC. Dan selanjutnya dianalisa responnya dengan metode IAE.

Acetone-ethanol-n-butanol is fermentation product from palm oil shell waste, which is generally separated using sequence columns distillation. For economic reason, this separation is improvised by using single side stream distillation column In order to maintain the stability of the product composition, good pairing control is needed. This research, started with designing the distillation column, then simulated with Hysys v2004.1 in steady state mode until the system is stable After that the system changed into dynamic mode and added a controller to maintain stability of system if there any disturbances. Unless, the system is stable, disturbance are given on the reflux rate, the sidestream rate, the reboiler duty, and the feed rate. For each pairing the transfer functions can be figured and then The transfer function matrix, is analyzed with RGA methods. Pairings which are not qualified are eliminated. For PID controller, matrix which is not eliminated tuned with Zieger-Nichols continuous cycling method and for MPC controller is tuned too. After that, the error was calculated by using IAE method.
