STUDI EKSPERIMENTAL PENGARUH FIN PITCH DAN PEMBEBANAN PANAS TERHADAP KARAKTERISTIK PERPINDAHAN PANAS DAN UNJUK KERJA PADA WAVY-FINNED TUBE STAGGERED COMPACT HEAT EXCHANGER

ABSTRAK

Pada alat penukar panas jenis finned tube fin berfungsi agar luas permukaan singgung semakin besar sehingga diperoleh perpindahan panas yang maksimal. Masalah yang akan dikaji adalah begaimana pengaruh perubahan geometri sirip terhadap unjuk kerja pada penukar panas tipe Compact. Untuk mengetahui unjuk kerja alat penukar panas maka dalam eksperimen dilakukan pada variasi fin pitch 1.5 mm 3 mm dan 6 mm dengan variasi debit air 1500 Lh 2100 Lh dengan range 200 Lh serta kecepatan udara dijaga konstan sebesar 2 ms. Eksperimen dilakukan dengan menaruh benda uji pada wind tunnel sebagai fluida dingin adalah udara dan fluida panas digunakan air. Data yang diambil mencakup suhu fin suhu tube suhu udara suhu air kecepatan udara dan variasi debit air. Diperoleh hasil model uji dengan jarak sirip terbesar Pf6mm dan debit air terendah Q1500Lh memiliki efisiensi sirip tertinggi 88.08 dan efisiensi overall tertinggi 89.05. Sedangkan pada jarak sirip terkecil Pf1.5mm dan debit air tertinggi 2100Lh model penukar panas menghasilkan koefisien perpindahan panas konveksi tertinggi 68.0522Wm2.K. Selain itu pada harga NTU dan Cr yang sama didapatkan effectiveness tertinggi 0.7357 ada pada jarak sirip terendah Pf1.5mm.


ABSTRACT

On a finned tube compact heat exchanger the function of fin is to increase heat transfer area therefore a maximum heat transfer is obtained. The problem to be studied is how the effect of fin geometry changing to performance of compact heat exchanger. To know the performance of compact heat exchanger experiment was done with variation of fin pitch 1.5 mm 3 mm 6 mm and volumetric variation of water is 1500Lh-2100Lh with range 200Lh and air velocity constant at 2 ms. Experiment was done by putting test section at wind tunnel its used air as cold fluid and water as hot fluid. The data that was taken including fin temperature tube temperature air and water temperature air velocity and water volumetric. The result of this experiment showed that the test section with highest fin pitch 6 mm and lowest water volumetric 1500Lh have highest fin efficiency 88.08 and highest overall efficiency 89.05. Otherwise for the lowest fin pitch 1.5 mm and highest water volumetric 2100Lh it had the highest convection coefficient 68.05 Wm2.K. Besides that the highest effectiveness 0.7357 on the test section with lowest fin pitch 1.5 mm is obtained at same value of NTU and Cr.
