UNINTERRUPTIBLE POWER SUPPLY UPS WITH MODIFIED BATTERY CHARGER TO IMPROVE POWER FACTOR AND REDUCE HARMONICS

ABSTRAK
Uninterruptible Power Supply UPS umum digunakan untuk menjaga kontinuitas suplai daya listrik pada beban-beban sensitif. UPS tersusun atas beberapa peralatan elektronika daya yang dioperasikan dengan pensaklaran frekuensi tinggi. Hal tersebut dapat mengakibatkan turunnya faktor daya dan meningkatnya harmonisa di sisi input.
Pada pembahasan Tugas Akhir ini dicoba untuk mengatasi kedua permasalahan tersebut dengan memodifikasi rangkaian rectifier-battery charger. Mengganti buck converter yang umum dipakai pada battery charger dengan flyback converter dan menambahkan filter input. Rangkaian battery charger yang telah dimodifikasi ini dapat menaikkan
faktor daya yang mula-mula 0.88 menjadi 0.93. Serta dapat mengurangi tingkat distorsi harmonisa arus THDi yang ditimbulkan yang awalnya 51 menjadi 18 .
ABSTRACT
Uninterruptible Power Supply UPS is commonly used to maintain continuity of electric power supply for sensitive loads. UPS consists of several power electronics devices which operated in high frequency switching. It causes poor power factor and higher harmonics distortion in supply system. This Final Project elaborates a way to overcome those problems by modifying rectifier-battery charger circuit. Replacing buck converter which is commonly used in battery charger with flyback converter and
adding line filter. This modified battery charger improves power factor level from 0.88 to 0.93 and reduces current harmonics distortion level THDi from 51 to 18.
