Description:

Proses pengeringan merupakan hal yang sangat vital di industri pengeringan obat nyamuk (vape). Proses yang selama ini ada bergantung penggunaan alat penukar panas berbahan bakar minyak untuk memanaskan udara pengering. Harga BBM yang terus meningkat, membuat margin keuntungan menurun tajam. Oleh karena itu diperlukan suatu cara untuk mengatasi hal tersebut, salah satu cara menggunakan dual sistem. Sistem pengering dual system ini terdiri dari kolektor surya dan heat exchanger. Penambahan kolektor surya bertujuan untuk memberikan pemanasan awal kepada udara sebelum memasuki alat penukar panas. Kolektor surya diletakkan di atas ruang pengering dan memanfaatkan atap tersebut sebagai plat penyerap. Jumlah obat nyamuk yang dikeringkan adalah 2143,26 kg, dengan kadar air awal 49 % (wet basis) dan kadar air akhir 8 % (wet basis) selama waktu pengeringan 10 jam. Hasil yang didapatkan dari perhitungan adalah dimensi kolektor surya memiliki luas @ 38,68 m2 dengan jarak plat absorber dan insulasi 4,83 cm. Temperatur udara keluar kolektor surya meningkat 3-18,5 oC dari temperatur udara sekitar dengan efisiensi kolektor antara 51,4 % - 67%. Presentase rata-rata penghematan konsumsi bahan bakar sebesar 27 % pada bulan dengan intensitas matahari tertinggi dan sebesar 15 % pada bulan dengan intensitas matahari terendah.

Drying process is an important step in mosquito drying industry (vape). In the existing condition, the process depends on heat exchanger with fuel as fuel consumption for air heater.The price of fuel increase, make the benefit of the industry decrease. Because of that, need some way to solve this problem, one of the solution is dual system method. Dual system drying process composed by solar collector and heat exchanger. The main propose adding solar collector is for giving air preheat before entering heat exchanger. Solar sollector is placed on drying space and using the roof as the absorber plate. The amount of drying vape are 2143,26 kg, with initial wet basis moisture content is 49 % and wet basis final condition is 8 % during ten hours drying time. The results from calculation are solar collector dimension with specification of main area is @ 38,68 m2 with absorber and insulation space is 4,83 cm. The outlet air temperature from solar collector increasing in range 3-18 oC from ambient temperature with collector efficiency between 51,4 %-67 %. The average of precentage fuel saving consumption is 27 % for the month with highest sun energy intensity and about 15 % on the month with lowest sun energy intensity.
