ABSTRAK

Pada alat penukar panas jenis Shell and Tube selain untuk menyangga tube baffle juga berfungsi untuk mengarahkan aliran sehingga diperoleh aliran yang turbulen. Dengan adanya aliran yang turbulen maka perpindahan panas yang maksimal dapat dicapai. Salah satu hal yang harus diperhatikan dalam mendesain baffle adalah sudut kemiringan baffle. Untuk mengetahui unjuk kerja alat penukar panas tipe Helixchanger dengan sudut kemiringan 10 maka dalam penelitian ini digunakan dua macam tipe yaitu tipe standar dan tipe overlap. Eksperimen dilakukan menggunakan aliran berlawanan dengan memvariasikan debit fluida dingin dan debit fluida panas dimana untuk fluida dingin dan panasnya yang digunakan adalah air. Parameterparameter yang diamati meliputi temperatur fluida masuk Thi dan Tci temperatur fluida keluar Tho dan Tco dan penurunan tekanan DP. Dari pengujian didapatkan bahwa pengoperasian heat exchanger dengan kondisi operasi pada berbagai Rasio Kapasitas Panas Cr menghasilkan Effectiveness yang hampir sama. Kondisi pengoperasian terbaik pada tipe standar terjadi pada Vh 2200 Lh dan Vc 600 Lh yang menghasilkan NTU 0.3872 dan Effectiveness 0.308 sedangkan pada tipe overlap terjadi pada Vh 2200 lph dan Vc 700 lph yang menghasilkan NTU 0.374 dan Effectiveness 0.304. Penurunan tekanan untuk tipe standar pada fluida dingin maksimum sebesar 641 pada debit 1000 Lh dan untuk tipe overlap sebesar 8077.


ABSTRACT

In Shell and Tube of Heat exchanger beside of holding the Tube the baffle is also functioned as directing the flow of fluid so that it produces the turbulent flow. The turbulent flow provides maximum heat exchanging. One of things to consider in designing the baffle is its incline angle. To know the performance of Heat Exchanger of Helixchanger of 10 incline we use the standard and overlap types. In this experiment we use counter flow by variating cold fluid debit and hot fluid debit using water. The parameters analysed are inlet fluid temperature Thi and Tci outlet fluid temperature Tho and Tco and pressure drops P. The result from serial testing shows that the operation of heat exchanger within operation condition on every Heat Capacity Rate Cr produces almost same level of effectiveness. The best condition of operation on standard type is occured in Vh 2200 Lh and Vc 600 Lh that produced NTU 03872 and effectiveness 0308 whereas on overlap type is occured on Vh 2200 lph and Vc 700 lph that produced NTU 0374. The maximum pressure drops for standard type on cold fluid is 641 within debit 1000 Lh and for overlap type is 8077.
