ABSTRAK

Perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi saat ini mempunyai pengaruh yang sangat besar di dunia industri yang menuntut setiap industri harus mengembangkan teknologinya agar mampu bersaing di pasaran dunia. Salah satu alat yang sangat banyak digunakan di industri yaitu heat exchanger atau penukar panas pun turut dikembangkan dalam rangka memenuhi kebutuhan tersebut. Salah satu tipe penukar panas yang sangat luas penggunaannya adalah tipe shell and tube shell and tube heat exchanger. Tipe ini terdiri dari cangkang selongsong dan baffle berupa pembatas yang tersusun dengan pola tertentu. Pemberian baffle mempunyai banyak tujuan salah satunya sebagai penyangga yang juga merupakan fungsi utama dari baffle tipe rod. Rodbaffle berupa kawat baja silindris yang tersusun berdasarkan pola tertentu. Dalam percobaan yang dilakukan pada penukar panas tipe shell and tube menggunakan baffle jenis rod didapatkan data temperatur tekanan dari debit yang divariasikan yaitu untuk fluida dingin dari 100 lph sampai 600 lph dengan kenaikan 50 lph dan fluida panas dari 100 lph sampai 300 lph dengan kenaikan 50 lph. Beda sudut antara susunan rod yang satu dengan susunan rod berikutnya bervariasi 450 600 dan 900 dan menggunakan air sebagai fluida kerja. Pada bilangan Reynolds fluida dingin yang sama tetapi dimensi dan geometri yang berbeda unjuk kerja penukar panas 900 paling efektif. Untuk dimensi sama tetapi berbeda geometri penukar panas 450 lebih efektif daripada 600. Pressure drop Pcold tertinggi terjadi pada penukar panas 900 dimana Pcold 900 Pcold 450 Pcold 600.


ABSTRACT

The development of science and technology at present has a big influence in industrial. It makes industries to develop their technology so that they can compete in the world market. One of most used tools in industries is heat exchanger that also developed to fulfill the necessity. There are kinds of this tool but one of them that have a lot of utilizing is shell and tube heat exchanger. They consist of container cover and baffle. Baffle is the divider which has a unique pattern. There are many purposes by including this baffle one of it is used as a prop which is as the main function of the rod type of baffle rod baffle. Rodbaffle is built from cylindrical steel wire. The experiment on the shell and tube heat exchanger with the rodbaffle the data that have taken is temperature and pressure by changing the fluids debit in range 100 lph to 600 lph by incrementing 50 lph for cold fluid and 100 lph to 300 lph by incrementing 50 lph for hot fluid and by variations the increment of the difference of angle between one and another the rodbaffles structure by 45o 60 o and 90 o by using water for both kinds of fluid. On the Reynolds cold constant with the same different dimension and geometry the most effective of work is on heat exchanger 90. For the same dimension but different geometry the heat exchanger 45 is more effective than heat exchanger 60.Tthe highest level of pressure drop Pcold is on the heat exchanger 90 where Pcold 90 Pcold 45 Pcold 60.
