STUDI PENGARUH PEMANASAN ULANG BAJA KARBON RENDAH TYPE SS-41 TERHADAP KETAHANAN KOROSI DENGAN METODE PENGUJIAN SALT SPRAY

STUDY OF REHEATING PROCESS IN LOW CARBON STEEL TYPE SS-41 TO THE CORROSION RESISTANT USING SALT SPRAY TESTING

ABSTRAK

Baja karbon rendah type SS-41 grade A adalah baja yang banyak digunakan sebagai konstruksi lambung pada sebuah kapal. Pada proses penyambungannya seringkali diadakan perbaikan dalam hal pengelasannya sehingga akan berpengaruh besar terhadap laju korosi yang terjadi pada material ini. Tugas akhir ini menggunakan material baja karbon rendah type SS-41 grade A dengan kandungan C 0.16 Si 0.21 Mn 0.7 P 0.023 S 0.022. Proses pemanasan ulang yang dilakukan pada material ini adalah sebagai ilustrasi bahwa material mengalami proses pengelasan dan proses gouging. Pemanasan dilakukan diatas suhu A1 yaitu 750oC dan 850oC dengan lama penahanan temperatur selama 30 menit untuk setiap pemanasan lalu dilakukan pendinginan secara normal. Untuk mengetahui setiap laju korosi yang terjadi pada berbagai pemanasan ulang digunakan dua belas material sebagai spesimen ujinya. Pada setiap tiga spesimen uji akan mengalami perlakuan pemanasan ulang yang berbeda yaitu tanpa pemanasan ulang satu kali pemanasan ulang dua kali pemanasan ulang dan tiga kali pemanasan ulang. Tugas akhir ini ditujukan untuk mengetahui besarnya nilai laju korosi yang terjadi sebagai akibat adanya perubahan struktur mikro pada baja karbon rendah type SS-41 grade A karena dilakukannya pemanasan ulang. Dari hasil pengujian diketahui nilai rata-rata tertinggi dari laju korosi yang terjadi setelah dilakukan pengujian salt spray sebesar 3.137 mmyr terjadi pada spesimen dengan pemanasan ulang sebanyak tiga kali 750oC 850oC 750oC 850oC. Dari hasil pengamatan foto mikro dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemanasan ulang yang dilakukan akan mengakibatkan peningkatan pada kandungan pearlite pada baja karbon rendah type SS-41 grade A. Kandungan pearlite terbesar dimiliki oleh spesimen uji dengan tiga kali pemanasan ulang dengan prosentase sebesar 38.


ABSTRACT

Low carbon steel type SS-41 grade A is the most commonly used steel material in ship hull construction. In fabrication or joining process some rewelding are frequently occured especially in welding section therefore it will give a massive effect to the corrosions rate in material. This final project will use low carbon steell material type SS-41 grade A contain with C 0.16 Si 0.21 Mn 0.7 P 0.023 S 0.022. The reheating process applied into material is simply ilustrating that the material undergo a welding and gouging process. Heat treatment was set up above A1 temperature which are 750oC and 850oC with 30 minute long for every heating then a cooling process was applied normally. To understand each corrosion rate which had happened in every reheating twelve types of material were used as speciment. In every three speciments they will undergo a different reheating process such as with no reaheating once reheating twice reheatings and three time reheatings. This final project is subjected to determine the value of corrosion rate that occured in steel material due to the changing of microstructure in low crbon steel type SS-41 grade A in reheating process. From the experiment we know that the highest average value from corrosion rate occured in speciment with three times reaheating 750oC 850oC 750oC 850oC with 3.137 mmyr after salt spray test. From the observation of micro photo can be concluded that the reheating process will cause the increasing of pearlite in low carbon steel type SS-41 grade A. The highest pearlite content was 38 on the speciment with three times reheating process.
