PENGGUNAAN TEKNIK REPLIKA DENGAN PLASTIK FILM TRANSCOPY UNTUK MENDAPATKAN GAMBARAN STRUKTUR MIKRO MATERIAL

UTILIZING REPLICATION TECHNIQUE WITH TRANSCOPY TO GET SKETCH OF MICRO STRUCTURE OF MATERIALS

ABSTRAK

Tugas akhir ini merupakan aplikasi dari teknik replika yang digunakan untuk non-destructive metallography dan non-destructive analysis terhadap material baja karbon SA 516 grade 70 stainless steel AISI 304 dan poros dari baja karbon. Prinsip kerjanya yaitu dengan membuat cetakan terhadap permukaan komponen yang di periksa dengan plastik film transcopy. Proses kerjanya dimulai dengan penghalusan permukaan komponen grinding pemolesan polishing pengetsaan permukaan komponen etching kemudian dilakukan replika dengan cara permukaan plastik film di beri aseton yang merupakan senyawa keton sebagai pelarut dan ditempelkan pada permukaan logam. Kemudian dokumentasi gambar struktur mikro permukaan komponen dengan mikroskop optis. Dari hasil foto mikro diketahui bahwa struktur mikro dari permukaan komponen asli dengan struktur komponen hasil replika menunjukkan kesamaan. Hal ini bisa dilihat dari hasil analisa struktur mikro material baik weld metal base metal HAZ fusion line dan retak yang terjadi pada permukaan material. Pada baja karbon A 516 grade 70 kandungan perlit untuk material asli 44.10 dan replika 41.08 sedangkan kandungan ferrit untuk material asli 55.91 dan replika 58.92. pada baja tahan karat AISI 304 presipitasi karbida pada daerah HAZ material asli sebesar 9.06 dan replika sebesar 10.08. Dengan metode ini sangat membantu pengujian ditempat yang melibatkan komponen besar dan mahal membutuhkan inspeksi berkala.


ABSTRACT

This final project is an application of technique of replication that is used for non-destructive metallographic and non-destructive analysis toward carbon steel material SA 516 grade 70 stainless steel AISI 304 and carbon steel shafting. The work process is started with grinding toward face of component polishing etching then doing the replication by giving aseton which is katons compound as a dissolved toward face of the plastics film. Continued with putting on the face of the material. The next step is make the documentation of the face micro structure of the component using the microscopic optic. From the result of the microscopic photo it can be recognized that between micros structure of the main components face with structure of the replica showing an equality. It can be noticed from the result of the material micros structure analyze whether weld metal or base metal HAZ fusion line and crack on the face of the material. At carbon steel of A 516 grade 70 content of perlit for original material 44.10 and replica 41.08 while content of ferrit for original material 55.91 and replica 58.92. At stainless steel AISI 304 the carbide precipitate area of HAZ original material equal to 9.06 and replica equal to 10.08. This method very helpful relating with the in-situ metallografi that involving significant component and expensive annual inspection.
