ABSTRAK

Bio-oil merupakan salah satu bentuk dari biofuel yang dimanfaatkan untuk mengurangi konsumsi nasional terhadap kerosene minyak tanah. Nyamplung Calophyllum inophyllum dipilih sebagai bahan baku pembuatan bio-oil karena merupakan sumber daya hayati yang potensial yang mudah ditanam dan dapat ditemui di berbagai daerah di Indonesia. Dalam penelitian ini dilakukan beberapa tahap yaitu ekstraksi minyak biji Nyamplung degumming esterifikasi transesterifikasi pemisahan dan pencucian kemudian dilakukan analisa pengaruh rasio molar minyak terhadap metanol pada tahap transesterifikasi terhadap bio-oil hasil penelitian. Rasio molar minyak terhadap metanol yang digunakan adalah 13 14 15 dan 16. Katalis yang digunakan dalam tahap esterifikasi adalah H2SO4 98 sedangkan katalis untuk tahap transesterifikasi adalah NaOH. Dari hasil penelitian terlihat bahwa rasio molar minyak terhadap metanol pada tahap transesterifikasi mempengaruhi yield methyl esterbio-oil yang dihasilkan. Analisa terhadap kualitas bio-oil dan uji visual yang dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa bio-oil dari minyak biji Nyamplung dapat dijadikan sebagai bahan bakar alternatif pengganti minyak tanah.


ABSTRACT

Bio-oil is one of biofuel form used to minimize national consumption of kerosene. Calophyllum inophyllum was choosen as raw material of bio-oil synthesis because it is a potential natural resources which is easily planted and founded in many place in Indonesia. In this research several sequences were done Calophyllum inophyllum seed oil extraction degumming esterification transesterification separation and washing of transesterification product then analyzed the effect of molar ratio of oil to methanol from transesterification process on bio-oil acquired. The molar ratio of oil to methanol used are 13 14 15 and 16. The catalist used in esterification and transesterification process were respectively H2SO4 and NaOH. The research showed the molar ratio of oil to metanol used in transesterification process affected the yield of methyl ester bio-oil. The studied on bio-oil quality and visual testing conducted showed that bio-oil from Calophyllum inophyllum seed oil has the advantage used as kerosene alternative fuel.
