Description:

Salah satu cara untuk mengatur putaran motor induksi adalah dengan menggunakan inverter. Inverter yang merupakan peralatan yang berbasis elektronika daya menghasilkan tegangan yang non sinusoida atau mengandung harmonisa. Adanya arus harmonisa akan menyebabkan efekefek negatif dalam sistem tenaga listrik seperti rugi-rugi daya yang meningkat pada motor. Untuk mengurangi harmonisa pada umumnya dipasang suatu filter. Dalam variable speed drive (VSD), filter tidak dapat digunakan karena inverter membangkitkan tegangan dengan frekuensi yang variabel, sedangkan filter bekerja pada satu frekuensi tertentu. Untuk memperbaiki gejala tersebut dapat dilakukan dengan mengurangi kandungan komponen harmonisa atau memperbaiki bentuk gelombang tegangan keluaran inverter. Multilevel inverter merupakan suatu metode untuk membangkitkan tegangan dengan membuat gelombang yang bertingkat hingga menyerupai sinusoida. Multilevel inverter yang dibuat dalam tugas akhir ini menggabungkan 3-level halfbridge inverter dengan full-bridge inverter satu fasa sehingga menjadi 5- level. Pembangkitan pulse width modulation (PWM) digunakan metode eliminasi harmonisa. Metode ini bertujuan mendapatkan sudut penyalaan untuk tiap-tiap step level tegangan. Hasil simulasi diperoleh total harmonic distortion (THD) tegangan terendah pada indeks modulasi 1.7 sebesar 16.75%, sedangkan hasil eksperimen menggunakan inverter prototype diperoleh THD tegangan 17.7%.

A method to control the induction motor speed is used inverter.Inverter generates non-sinusoidal voltage or containing harmonic distortion. Existence of current harmonic will cause negative effects in electric power system like power losses increase on motor. Filter is used to reduce harmonic. In variable speed drives (VSD), filter may not be used because inverter generates voltage with variable frequency, while filter works in one tuned frequency. This problem can be solved by reducing component of harmonic or improving the waveform of output voltage inverter. Multilevel inverter is a method to synthesize the desired ac voltage from several levels of dc voltage. Multilevel inverter in this final project is formed by connecting a 3-level half-bride single-phase inverter with a full-bridge inverter becoming 5-level. Pulse width modulation (PWM) technique uses method of harmonic elimination. Target of this method is getting the switching angles of each voltage-level step. Simulation results in the smallest total harmonic distortion (THD) of voltage 16.75% at modulation indexes 1.7, while experimental test results on a prototype the smallest THD of voltage 17.7%.
