SIFAT MEKANIK KOMPOSIT ISOTROPIK ALSIC DENGAN PROSES PELAPISAN MGAL2O4 PADA PENGUAT SIC DAN VARIASI WAKTU SINTERING

MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF AlSiC ISOTROPIC COMPOSITES PREPARED BY COATING SiC REINFORCER WITH MgAl2O4 AND VARYING SINTERING TIME

ABSTRAK

Komposit isotropik AlSiC merupakan suatu bahan yang mempunyai keunggulan dalam kekuatan dan ketahanan terhadap aus. Dalam penelitian ini dilakukan proses pelapisan MgAl2O4 pada penguat SiC dengan metoda electroless plating. Di mana variasi konsentrasi Mg 001 002 003 dan 025 gram dengan konsentrasi Al konstan 05 gram ke dalam larutan HNO3. Metoda pembuatan bahan komposit yang digunakan adalah metoda metalurgi serbuk dengan variasi fraksi volume filler 10 20 30 dan 40 dan waktu sintering 2 4 dan 6 jam. Lalu dilakukan karakterisasi SEM EDXA XRD dan pengujian tekan. Dari hasil penelitian terlihat bahwa fasa spinel MgAl2O4 yang berhasil dilapiskan pada penguat SiC menghasilkan distribusi penguat SiC yang lebih homogen dan menjadi pengikat perantara antara matrik aluminium dan penguat SiC. Nilai modulus elastisitas paling tinggi dimiliki oleh komposit AlSiC terlapisi MgAl2O4 dengan konsentrasi Mg 002 gram Vf 40 HT 6 jam yaitu sebesar 2664 GPa. Sedangkan nilai modulus elastisitas yang dimiliki oleh komposit AlSiC terlapisi MgAl2O4 dengan konsentrasi Mg 025 gram yaitu sebesar 19034 GPa Vf 40 HT 6 jam.


ABSTRACT

The AlSiC isotropic composites is a material having excellence in strength and endurance to abrasion. In this research done coating process of MgAl2O4 at SiC reinforce with electroless plating method. Where various concentration of Mg 001 002 003 and 025 grams with concentration of constant Al 05 grams into solubility HNO3.. Making method of composite material applied is powder metallurgy method with various fraction of volume filler 10 20 30 and 40 and time of sintering 2 4 and 6 hours. Then is done characterisation SEM EDXA XRD and compressing test. From result of research seen that spinel phase MgAl2O4 which successfully superimposed at SiC reinforced to yield distribution of SiC reinforcement which more homogeneous and becomes medium binder between matrix aluminum and SiC reinforcement. Highest modulus elasticity value owned by composites AlSiC is arranged in layers by MgAl2O4 with concentration of Mg 002 grams Vf 40 HT 6 hours that is 2664 GPA. While assessing modulus elasticity value owned by composites AlSiC is arranged in layers by MgAl2O4 with concentration of Mg 025 grams that is 19034 GPA Vf 40 HT 6 hours.
