Dalam upaya penanggulangan bahaya kebakaran, pompa sentrifugal memegang peranan yang tak tergantikan dalam menyuplai air. Pompa pemadam kebakaran, khususnya pompa pemadam kebakaran yang terpasang di mobil pemadam kebakaran, membutuhkan head dan kapasitas yang cukup besar untuk dapat memadamkan api. Pada tugas akhir ini akan direncanakan sebuah pompa pemadam kebakaran yang terpasang pada mobil pemadam kebakaran (vehicle mounted fire pump) yang mampu menyemprotkan air minimal mencapai lantai paling atas gedung berlantai 50 dengan tinggi tiap lantai sebesar 2,5 m dengan debit minimal 1000 liter/menit secara continue. Perancangan pompa pemadam kebakaran ini diawali dengan penentuan head pompa yang dibutuhkan melalui data awal berupa ketinggian gedung yang harus dicapai, kapasitas yang ditentukan terlebih dahulu, dan gambaran awal mengenai instalasi pompa. Kemudian dari data head, kapasitas, dan putaran engine akan ditentukan putaran spesifik yang digunakan untuk menentukan jenis impeller yang akan digunakan, jumlah stage, dan sistim penyusunan impeller. Proses terakhir dalam perancangan pompa pemadam kebakaran ini adalah perhitungan untuk menentukan dimensi dan geometri impeller dan komponen – komponen penyusun pompa lainnya. Tugas akhir ini diarahkan untuk memperoleh suatu desain pompa pemadam kebakaran yang diharapkan dapat bekerja secara efisien untuk menjawab permasalahan awal yang timbul dengan tetap memperhatikan kaidah – kaidah yang berlaku.

In an effort of fire hazard suppression, centrifugal pump has an unreplaceable role in supplying water. Fire pump, which is mounted on a fire apparatus, needs quite high of head and capacity in order to extinguish fire. This final assignment is intended to design a fire pump which is mounted on a fire apparatus ( vehicle mounted fire pump ) and has abilities to burst up water at least until it reach top floor of the fifty-floors building with a minimal continuous capacity of 1000 litre per minutes. This fire pump design will be started by determining appropriate pump head with the help of initial datas such as height of the building, choosen pump capacity, and initial design of pump installation. Then, from the first determined datas, the next step is about determining the specific speeds that is used for choosing the type of impeller, amount of stages, and the arrangement of impellers. The final step of this design is about the calculation that will be done for determining the dimension and the geometry of impeller as well as the other pump components. At the end, this final assignment is done to get a certain design of fire pump which is expected to work efficiently answering the emerging problem with still considering rules in it.
