RANCANG BANGUN PENGUPAS SABUT PADA ALAT PENGOLAH SABUT KELAPA

DESIGN AND CONSTRUCT DEHUSKER AT COCONUT HUSK PROCESSING MACHINE

ABSTRAK

Selama ini sabut kelapa kurang dapat dimanfaatkan dengan maksimal dan hanya dianggap sebagai limbah. Padahal sabut kelapa dapat dipergunakan sebagai bahan baku geotekstil hardboard dan pengisi jok yang tentu saja memiliki nilai ekonomis yang lebih tinggi. Kurangnya pemanfaatan terhadap sabut kelapa tersebut selain disebabkan kurangnya wawasan petani juga karena belum ada peralatan pertanian yang dapat digunakan petani untuk mengolah sabut kelapa menjadi komoditi yang lebih bernilai ekonomis. Kalaupun ada belum terjangkau oleh petani di Indonesia baik dari harga jual maupun biaya operasionalnya. Untuk itu perlu dirancang suatu alat pengolah sabut kelapa yang lebih sederhana dan tentu lebih murah. Pada intinya pengolahan sabut kelapa bertujuan mendapatkan cocodust dan cocofiber baik dengan cara mekanis maupun cara manual. Alat yang hendak dirancang adalah alat pengolah sabut secara mekanis yang memiliki tiga bagian yaitu roller pengupas sabut pencacah sabut dan pemilah sabut. Adapun penelitian ini akan membahas mengenai rancang bangun pada bagian roller pengupas sabut. Roller tersebut terdiri dari sepasang roller berpaku yang direncanakan mampu mengupasmencabik sabut kelapa hingga terkupas dari tempurungnya. Dari Tugas Akhir ini didapatkan alat pengupas sabut kelapa secara mekanis yang masih berupa model dengan skala 12. Secara teoritis kapasitas alat sebesar 180 butirjam. Dari hasil pengujian fungsi didapat bahwa alat tersebut masih belum mampu mengupas sabut kelapa dengan baik. Namun model telah dapat menunjukkan bahwa mekanisme alat dapat berjalan sebagaimana yang diinginkan.


ABSTRACT

Nowadays coconut husk arent exploited enough and even only considered to be waste. Tough coconnut husk can be use to make geotaxtil hardboard and as filler of vehicle seat which is more valuable of course. Exploitedless of coconut husk besides cause by lack of farmers knowledges also because there is agriculuture equipment which can used by farmer to process the husk as valuable commodity. Even so there its price cant reached by Indonesian famer either for the price it self or their operating cost. Thats why an appliance processor of coconut huskthats more simple and cheaper off course need to be designed. Basicly the processing of coconut husk are aim to get cocofiber and cocodust by mechanical or manual method. The machine that will be designed are a husk processor that consist of three part dehusker defibring machine and cocofiber screener. This research will design the coconut dehusker. Its consist of a pair of nailed roller that can tearing off the husk from its coconut shell. From this final project the coconut dehusker are designed and construct as a model with 12 scale. The theoretically capacities of the dehusker equal to 180 coconuthour. The result of functional test show that dehusker still cant tear the husk yet. But the model that have built indicate the mechanism can work as designed.
