ANALYSIS OF REWELDING INFLUENCE TO THE MECHANICAL CHARACTERISTIC AND MICRO STRUCTURE IN ALUMINIUM 5083

ABSTRAK

Analisa pengaruh pengelasan ulang pada aluminium 5083 dilakukan untuk mengetahui akibat yang ditimbulkan dari proses pengelasan ulang atau repair baik dari perubahan sifat mekanik maupun dari perubahan struktur mikro. Analisa dilakukan terhadap empat material A B C D yang mempuyai variasi jumlah pengelasan atau repair yang berbeda. Diasumsikan daerah las pada specimen B C dan D mempunyai cacat sehingga harus mengalami proses repair dengan membuang 2 layer pertama dan hanya menyisakan 1 layer saja di bagian back weld. Material A tidak mengalami proses repair material B mengalami proses repair sebanyak 1x material C mengalami proses repair sebanyak 2x dan material D mengalami proses repair sebanyak 3x. Hasil dari pengelasan tersebut kemudian diuji dengan uji radiography uji metallography uji tarik dan uji ketangguhan atau facture toughness. Dari hasil pengujian radiography dapat diketahui bahwa pada specimen yang tidak mengalami proses repair mempunyai jumlah porosity dalam batas yang aman accepted sedangkan pada specimen yang mengalami proses repair mempunyai jumlah porosity di luar batas aman rejected. Hal ini disebabkan kurang bersihnya pembersihan sebelum dilakukan pengelasan ulang. Dari uji metallography dapat diamati bahwa semakin banyak jumlah repair yang diterima oleh material khususnya aluminium 5083 maka jumlah partikel Mg2Si akan semakin besar dan menggumpal sedangkan jumlah partikel Mg2Al3 mengalami penurunan. Dari hasil uji tarik tampak bahwa semakin banyak jumlah repair yang diterima oleh material semakin turun kekuatan tarik dari material tersebut dan hal ini juga berbanding lurus terhadap hasil dari uji ketangguhan.


ABSTRACT

Analysis of rewelding in aluminum 5083 is done to find out the effect that caused by welding repetition or repairing process either in the changing of mechanical characteristic or micro structure. This analysis is applied in to four materials A B C D that have difference of welding and repair variance. It was assumed that in welding area in specimen B C and D has some defects so it needs to have repairing process by erasing first two joints layer and only remaining one layer only in back weld. Material A doesnt undergo a repairing process material B has once repairing process material C has twice repairing process and material D has three times repairing process. Result of those welding process were eventually tested using radiography metallographic tension and facture toughness test. From radiography test it can be described that specimens which have no repairing process have number of porosity in accepted limit while in specimens with repairing process having number of porosity out of from accepted limit. It happens because incomplete cleaning before welding repetition. From metallographic test can be observed that the higher number of repairing process in material especially in aluminum 5083 so that the bigger Mg2Si particle will be clumped while Mg2Al3 particles are getting decreased. From tension test its shown that the higher number of repairing process so tension strength of the material is getting decreased and it goes inherently with facture toughness result.
