ABSTRAK

Pada umumnya bangunan lepas pantai dirancang untuk tahan 20 tahun dan selama itu konstruksi platform tersebut harus dijamin dari segi kekuatan dan keselamatannya dalam menerima beban akibat lingkungan sekitarnya. Apabila terjadi kerusakan dibawah garis air maka diperlukan teknologi bawah air yang akan ditangani secara khusus. Melalui penelitian ini dikaji pengaruh jenis proses las dan salinitas terhadap sifat mekanik weld joint material baja pada underwater welding. Las bawah air dilakukan dengan membandingkan metode SMAW dan FCAW wet welding dengan variasi salinitas 33000 dan 37000 serta dilakukan di darat sebagai pembanding. Melalui uji tarik dan uji kekerasan diperoleh kekuatan tarik dan kekerasan material yang dilas dengan proses las FCAW lebih besar dibanding dengan proses SMAW underwater pada salinitas 37 ooo. tinggi salinitas air laut maka kecepatan pendinginan makin tinggi sehingga mengakibatkan material semakin keras dan getas. Hal ini ditandai dengan elongasi dan reduction of area material lebih kecil dibanding salinitas 33ooo maupun di darat. Pada pengamatan metalografi baik dengan proses las SMAW maupun FCAW struktur mikronya terbentuk martensit pada pengelasan yang dilakukan di lingkungan laut salinitas 37 ooo lebih banyak daripada yang dilakukan pada salinitas 33 ooo maupun di darat. Hal ini akibat pendinginan tertinggi pada salinitas air laut yang lebih besar. Sedangkan dari pengamatan struktur makro pada pengelasan bawah air banyak terlihat adanya cacat porositas dan hydrogen embrittlement akibat proses disosiasi air selama proses pengelasan


ABSTRACT

Generally designed offshore building to hold up 20 year and during is the the platform construction have to be guaranteed from facet of strength and its safety in accepting environmental effect. In the event of damage under loadline hence be needed by technology of underwater to be handled peculiarly. Through this research in study of type influence of welding process and salinity toward mechanical properties of weld joint steel material of underwater welding in marine environmental. Underwater welding conducted by comparing method of SMAW and FCAW wet welding with variation of salinity 33 000 and 37 000 and material also welded in air as comparator. Through tensile test and hardness test obtained by a tensile strength and the material hardness which with FCAW process is bigger compared to with process of SMAW underwater at salinity 37 ooo. This since excelsior of salinity hence the refrigeration speed more and more high so that result material getting louder and brittle. This is marked with elongation and reduction of area is small of salinitas 33 ooo and air. At metalografi examination with welding process of SMAW and also FCAW its microstructure formed by martensite at welding at salinity 37 ooo more than at salinity 33 ooo and also in air. This matter is effect of highest refrigeration at salinity of larger ones. Through macrostructure metallography examination in underwater welding it was found that there are many of hydrogen embrittlement due to water disassociation during welding process.
