STUDI EKSPERIMEN PENGARUH PERUBAHAN TEGANGAN DAN JARAK ANODA-KATODA TERHADAP KETEBALAN LAPISAN TEMBAGA PADA BAJA DENGAN PROSES ELEKTROPLATING DENGAN ARUS KONSTAN

EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON THE INFLUENCE OF VOLTAGE AND ANODE-CATHODE DISTANCE DIFFERENCE TO COOPER LAYER THICKNESS AT CONSTANT CURRENT ELECTROPLATED STEEL

ABSTRAK

Sejalan dengan perkembangan industri logam di Indonesia yang saat ini berkembang dengan sangat pesat. Dapat dilihat setiap harinya dari kebutuhan rumah tangga automotif dan elektronika lainnya telah mengalami proses finishing logam yang salah satunya adalah dengan lapis listrik elektroplating. Lapisan yang sering digunakan adalah krom. Sebelum logam dilapisi krom terlebih dahulu logam di beri lapisan dasar. Tembaga sering digunakan sebagai pelapis dasar sebelum dilapisi krom. Lapisan dasar sangat menentukan hasil lapisan finishingnya maka dari itu ketebalan lapisan dasar harus diperhatikan. Banyak dijumpai kasus lapisan krom yang mengelupas salah satu penyebabnya adalah ketebalan permukaan lapisan dasar yang tidak sesuai. Sehingga banyak komponen yang harus diproses ulang yang menyebabkan pembengkakkan biaya produksi. Pada penelitian ini digunakan benda kerja plat baja yang akan mengalami proses elektroplating tembaga. Besarnya tegangan yang digunakan yaitu 6V 12V 24V 36V dan 48V dengan jarak anoda katoda yang bergantung dari besar arus yang dijaga konstan yaitu sebesar 1 dan 05 ampere. Waktu pencelupan sama yaitu 5 menit. Kemudian benda uji yang sudah dilapisi dilakukan pengukuran ketebalan lapisannya menggunakan Coating Thicknes Gage. Hasil data yang didapat kemudian diolah dengan menggunakan Software Statistik Minitab. Dari hasil penelitian ini disimpulkan bahwa pengaruh perubahan tegangan dengan perbedaan jarak antara anoda atau logam pelapis elektroda bermuatan positif dan katoda atau benda uji elektroda bermuatan negatif dalam pelapisan tembaga sebagai undercoat sangat berpengaruh terhadap ketebalan pelapisan permukaan benda uji yang dilapisi. Dari hasil penelitian dipilih kriteria pelapisan yang baik dan memenuhi syarat untuk menjadi Undercoat menurut standart ketebalan minimal lapisan tembaga yaitu 47 m. Hal ini dapat diketahui dari kombinasi yang tepat antara variasi tegangan dan jarak anoda-katoda terhadap tebal lapisan yaitu terletak pada tegangan 36 Volt dengan dengan arus 05 Ampere dan jarak anoda-katoda sejauh 12846 cm dan tebal lapisan mencapai 477 m.


ABSTRACT

In line with growth of metal industry in Indonesia which in this time expands considerably fast. Noticeable every day from requirement of household other electronics and automotif have experienced of process of finishing metal which one of them is endued electrics electroplating. Coat which is often used is chrome. Before metal arranged in layers chrome an elementary coat is given. Copper is often used as undercoat before arranged in layers chrome. Undercoat very determining result of its coat of him hence from that is thick of undercoat have to be paid attention. There are many chrome coat case flaking one of the cause is the thick of the surface of inappropriate elementary coat. So that many components which must be reprocessed due to boosting cost. At this research steel plate as work object is used to experience the process of copper electroplating. Level of tension used is 6V 12V 24V 36V and 48V with anodecathode distance hinging from the value of current that is equal to 1 and 05 ampere.The time for electroplating is 5 minute. Then the coated work objects are being measured by Coating Thicknes Gage. The data result then is processed by using Statistical Software Minitab. From the result of this research that the influence of voltage change with difference of distance between anode or coated metal positive electrode and work object or cathode negative electrode in veneering of copper as undercoat which is effecting greatly to surface layers thickness. From the result of the research standards and good veneering criterion to become Undercoat are selected according to copper coat minimal thickness standart that is 47 m. This matter can be acknowledged from the correct combination between voltage variation and distance of anode-cathode to its coat thickness that is laying in voltage 36 Volt with current 05 Ampere and distance of anode-cathode of 12846 cm and the thickness reaching 477 m
