ABSTRAK

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan properti thermodinamika tekanan uap dari blending alkoholgasoline. Untuk alkohol digunakan Ethanol dan n-Buthanol sedangkan untuk gasoline digunakan iso-Octane. Sistem yang diteliti adalah sistem biner yaitu n-Buthanol1-Ethanol2 n- Buthanol1-iso-Octane2 Ethanol1-iso-Octane2 pada range temperatur 30 oC -55 oC. Peralatan yang digunakan adalah Ebulliometer yang dimodifikasi dengan manometer air raksa untuk mengukur tekanan dalam cell. Peralatan yang digunakan pada eksperimen ini divalidasi untuk mengukur tekanan uap ethanol murni dan iso-octane murni. Data eksperimen dibandingkan dengan literatur sehingga diperoleh hasil 0.5 untuk Ethanol murni dan 0.6 untuk isooctane murni. Dari perhitungan korelasi diperoleh persen rata rata kesalahan absolute AAD antara tekanan uap eksperimen dengan perhitungan sebesar 0.06 untuk Persamaan Wilson 0.07 untuk Persamaan NRTL dan 0.19 untuk Persamaan UNIQUAC.


ABSTRACT

The aim of this research was to determine experimentally vapor pressure of alcohol-gasoline blends. Ethanol and n-buthanol were used as alcohol components and isooctane was used to represent gasoline. The binary systems studied were n-buthanol-ethanol nbuthanol- isooctane and ethanol-isooctane. The experimental apparatus used in this work was modified Ebulliometer completed with mercury manometer to measure the equilibrium pressure. The experimental apparatus was validated by measuring vapor pressure of pure ethanol and isooctane. The data were compared to literature data with average absolute deviation AAD of 0.5 and 0.6 for vapor pressure of ethanol and isooctane respectively. The vapor pressure of three binary systems obtained in this work could be classified as non ideal solutions. The experimental data were correlated using Wilson NRTL and UNIQUAC equations with AADs of 0.06 0.07 and 0.19 respectively.
