ABSTRAK

Aplikasi sistem perpipaan untuk distribusi fluida banyak kita jumpai dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Fenomena water hammer merupakan salah satu parameter yang harus diperhitungkan dalam merancang sebuah sistem perpipaan. Fenomena ini terjadi akibat kenaikan gelombang tekanan ketika aliran dihentikan secara tiba-tiba dimana gelombang tekanan yang terjadi bisa bernilai positif maupun negatif. Dampak dari fenomena in ibervariasi mulai dari timbulnya getaran pada sistem sampai pecahnya dinding pipa akibat besarnya gelombang tekanan yang terjadi. Metodologi yang dipakai dengan cara mengalirkan fluida dari reservoir pada ketinggian tertentu kemudian dialirkan melalui pipa uji dengan diameter tertentu dengan butterfly valve sebagai valve uji. Waktu penutupan valve merupakan salah satu faktor yang divariasikan dalam tugas akhir ini dimana mekanisme penutupannya diatur dengan variasi kecepatan silinder pneumatik. Variasi waktu penutupan valve yang dilakukan adalah 0.32 0.37 0.42 dan 0.5 detik dengan 3 titik pengambilan datatitik 1dekat valve2 tengah pipadan 3 dekat reservoir. Hasil eksperimen menunjukkan bahwa karakteristik tekanan radial vibrasi radial dan vibrasi horisontal mengalami penurunan fungsi jarak selain itu variasi material dalam eksperimen menunjukkan bahwa material dengan elastisitas yang lebih tinggi akan mengalami deformasi yang lebih besar ketika terjadi fenomena water hammer.


ABSTRACT

Applications of fluid piping system are often found in our daily lives. Water hammer phenomena are one of parameter which needs to be considering in designing a piping system. The phenomena is due to a sudden increase in pressure wave where pressure wave could either be a positive or negative valve. The effect of this phenomena starts with a vibrations occurred in the system to a crack in the pipe wall due to the great amount of pressure wave. The method is to let fluid flow from a reservoir at a certain height to a test pipe at a certain diameter with a butterfly valve as it test valve. The valve closure timing is one of variable factor in this final project where the mechanism of the closure is manage by the variation of silinder pneumatic velocity. The valve closure timing variations are 0.32 0.37 0.42 0.5 seconds with three spot point for dat collection point 1 near the valve point 2 centre of the valve point 3 near the reservoir. The final result experiment for characteristic pressure radial vibration and aksial vibration of water hammer is decrease for time function and distance function in additin to material variation of experiment is material with higher elasticity will produce bigger deformation when occur water hammer phenomena.
