ABSTRAK

Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan dalam pengoptimalan biaya pengangkutan LNG pada kapal LNG carrier adalah dengan pemilihan tipe baru atau tipe alternatif sebagai system propulsi utama. Pada saat ini yang umum dijumpai pada kapal-kapal LNG adalah menggunakan steam turbin sebagai propulsi utamanya. Akan tetapi secara keseluruhan steam turbine masih kurang efisien bila dibandingkan dengan diesel engine modern terutama masalah tingginya konsumsi bahan bakar sedangkan diesel engine memiliki efisiensi konsumsi bahan bakar yang lebih tinggi. Tugas akhir ini melakukan evaluasi terhadap penggunaan system propulsi di LNG carrier dengan membuat rancangan system propulsi hydrid dengan menggunakan steam turbine dual fuel burner dan dual fuel generator set yang dikombinasikan dengan POD propeller serta pemanfaatan BOG sebagai bahan bakar dalam rangka mendapatkan system propulsi yang baik untuk generasi LNG carrier selanjutnya. Analisa dilakukan secara perhitungan matematis terhadap kebutuhan bahan bakar. Dengan penggunaan system propulsi hybrid mampu menghasilkan penghematan bahan bakar sebesar 45 bila dibandingkan dengan system steam turbin konvensional.


ABSTRACT

One effort that can be done in optimizing the cost of transporting LNG in the LNG carrier is a ship with a new type of election or as an alternative type of main propulsion system. At this time the public found the LNG ships is to use steam turbine as main propulsion. But overall steam turbine is less efficient when compared with modern diesel engines especially the problem of high fuel consumption while diesel engine has a fuel consumption efficiency is higher. This final project of evaluating the use of the propulsion system in the LNG carrier to make the hybrid propulsion system design using the dual fuel burner steam turbine and dual fuel generator set combined with the POD propeller and the BOG as fuel in order to get a good system propulsion for next generation LNG carrier. This Analysis done with mathematical calculation of the fuel needs. With the use of hybrid propulsion system able to produce fuel savings of 4.5 when compared with the conventional steam turbine system.
