Description:

Pompa berperan penting sebagai media untuk memindahkan fluida dari suatu tempat ke tempat lain. Salah satu pompa yang digunakan dalam pembangkitan listrik PLTGU adalah boiler feed pump. Proses pengoperasian dan karakteristik material yang tidak sesuai pada pompa dapat mengakibatkan terjadinya kerusakan. Demikian juga pada boiler feed pump PLTGU yang terjadi kerusakan, berupa kegagalan poros. Kerusakan tersebut mengharuskan dilakukannya shut down untuk melakukan perbaikan. Hal ini menyebabkan kerugian operasional serta menghentikan transfer energi listrik ke gardu-gardu milik PLN. Pada penelitian ini dihitung beban yang diterima poros, dan dengan metode MNST, MSST, dsn DET dapat diketahui aman tidaknya material terhadap pembebanan yang terjadi. Identifikasi material gagal selain dari data yang diperoleh, juga dilakukan uji fraktografi. Dari pengujian diatas nantinya dapat digunakan untuk mengetahui pola patahan, arah retakan yang terjadi terhadap kerusakan poros pompa. Berdasarkan hasil analisa dan data-data yang diperoleh, kerusakan yang terjadi disebabkan oleh perencanaan (desain) pasak yang tidak sesuai dengan standar dan konsentrasi tegangan. Konsentrasi tegangan terjadi pada sisi tempat kedudukan pasak pada poros. Faktor yang mempengaruhi terjadinya konsentrasi tegangan adalah besar kecilnya radius pada sisi kedudukan pasak. Konsentrasi tegangan ini mengakibatkan retakan awal yang kemudian menjalar dan mengakibatkan poros tidak mampu lagi menerima tegangan yang bekerja sehingga mengakibatkan poros menjadi patah. Sedangkan untuk perhitungan kegagalan material dengan metode MNST, MSST, dan DET material masih aman karena harga tegangan masih dibawah tegangan ijin material.

Pump is very important as media to transfer liquid from one place to another. Boiler feed pump is one of pump that used in PLTGU. Operation process and material characteristic that are not proper on pump may cause a damage. It also happen on boiler feed pump in PLTGU, such as the shaft failure. It can cause shut down to do the system repairment so that cause operational losses and stop transferring electric to PLNís relays. The research will be calculated the shaft load by using MNST, MSST, and DET methods in order to know a secure between material against load. Beside of that, fractography test will be used. By testing that method, fracture pattern and the way of fracture will be known against shaft failureon pump. Based on the result of analysis and data obtained, damage is caused by stress concentration and design of key way that is not proper with standards. Stress concentration occurs on the seat side on the key way of shaft. Factors that affect stress concentration is a radius on the seat side of key way. Stress concentration can cause initial crack and then lead to spreading, so that the shaft is not able to receive stress and will cause the shaft broken. Calculation of material failure by using MNST, MSST, and DET method is still secure because stress value is still under a yield stress of material.
