Umumnya, pengaturan sebuah intensitas cahaya lampu di dalam suatu ruangan dilakukan hanya berdasarkan pada kondisi gelap dan terang yang dilakukan secara manual dan tanpa mempertimbangkan kontribusi cahaya dari luar. Kejadian seperti ini akan mengakibatkan ketidakefisienan penggunaan energi listrik dan tenaga manusia untuk mematikan atau menghidupkan lampu. Maka kita perlukan sebuah alat yang bekerja secara otomatis pada pengontrolan intensitas cahaya lampu untuk mendapatkan efisiensi pemakaian energi listrik. Prinsip kendali yang digunakan adalah kendali logika fuzzy dengan sistem inferensi fuzzy yang digunakan adalah Metode Mamdani. Pada komposisi aturan menggunakan operator OR ( union ), sedangkan untuk defuzzifikasi digunakan metode COA(Center of Area). Pada metode COA(Center of Area) nilai tegas keluarannya diperoleh berdasarkan titik berat dari kurva hasil proses pengambilan keputusan sebagai hasil nilai dari output logika fuzzy. Sebagai pengendali utama pada sistem menggunakan mikrokontroller ATmega8535 dengan input dari sensor cahaya (LDR) dan output fuzzy sebagai input rangkaian TCA 785 agar lampu bisa menyala menyesuaikan intensitas ruangan dengan set point 750 lux untuk ruang gambar. Dalam pengujian perangkat keras dan lunak, diketahui bahwa sistem pengaturan intensitas cahaya lampu di dalam sebuah ruangan gambar ini dapat menghemat energi listrik sebesar 2356.62 KW berdasarkan pengujian yang dilakukan pada pukul 10.00 WIB dan 18.00 WIB. Pada pengujian sensor cahaya diperoleh hubungan antara intensitas cahaya dan tegangan yang non linear sehingga ada nilai error yang diperoleh, untuk itu diperlukan sensor cahaya yang sangat baik untuk mendapatkan hasil yang diharapkan.

Generally, the light intensity in a room is done only on the condition of dark and light made manually, and without considering the contribution from the light outside. This event has resulted in the inefficiency use of electrical energy and manpower to turn off or turn on the lights. Therefore we need a device has operated as automatisation on controlling light intensity to get the energy efficiency of electricity usage. Control principle is used with the fuzzy control system inferensi a fuzzy Mamdani method is used. Rules on the composition of the OR operator (union), while the method used to defuzzifikasi COA. As the main system in use mikrokontroller ATmega8535 with input from the light sensor (LDR) and the output fuzzy sets as the TCA input 785 so that light can adjust the light intensity of the room with the set point to 750 lux image space. In experiment the hardware and software, it is known that the system settings in the light intensity of light in a drawing room can save energy electricity was 2356.62 KW based on data from experiment at 10.00 AM until 06.00 PM. In the light sensor obtained by experiment the relationship between light intensity and voltage non-linear so that there is an error value, it is necessary for the light sensor which is very good to get the results expected.
