STUDY OF NICKELII ION ADSORPTION IN SOLUTION USING POWDERED KUPANG SHELCROSSLINKED CHITOSAN COMPOSITE

ABSTRAK

Pelet komposit serbuk cangkang kupang-khitosan terikat silang dipreparasi dari campuran serbuk cangkang kupang dan larutan khitosan 1 dalam larutan asam asetat 2 yang diikat silang dengan larutan glutaraldehid 02. Proses adsorpsi ion logam NiII dalam larutan dilakukan dengan sistem rendam atau batch. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada berbagai kondisi pH dan waktu kontak untuk menentukan kapasitas adsorpsi maksimum. Dari hasil analisis terlihat bahwa pH 40 dan waktu kontak optimum 90 menit merupakan kondisi optimum. Isoterm yang sesuai untuk kapasitas adsorpsi komposit serbuk cangkang kupang-khitosan terikat silang ini adalah pola isoterm Langmuir. Komposisi adsorben berpengaruh pada nilai kapasitas adsorpsi qmaks dan laju adsorpsi KL. Kandungan serbuk cangkang kupang dalam komposit yang semakin besar dapat menurunkan kapasitas adsorpsi namun laju adsorpsi meningkat.


ABSTRACT

The composite pellet of powdered kupang shellcrosslinked chitosan is prepared from the mixture of powdered kupang shell and 1 chitosan solution in 2 acetic acid solution crosslinked with 02 glutaraldehyde solution. The adsorption process of NiII ion in solution is done by batch system. This research is done in various pH condition and time to determine the maximum adsorption capacity. Based on the analysis result it is shown that pH 40 and 90 minutes time are the optimum conditions. The suitable isotherm for the composite adsorption capacity of powdered kupang shell-crosslinked chitosan is Langmuir isotherm. The adsorbent composition influences the maximum adsorption capacity qmax and adsorption rate KL. The higher powdered kupang shell content in the composite can decrease the adsorption capacity but increase the adsorption rate.
