ABSTRAK

Pengujian aktivitas senyawa santon sebagai antimalaria dapat dilakukan secara voltametri siklis. Senyawa santon yang ditentukan aktivitasnya dalam penelitian ini adalah senyawa 946-mangostin dan 3-isomangostin. Senyawa antimalaria yang digunakan sebagai pembanding adalah senyawa-senyawa turunan santon dan biflavonoid yang telah diketahui tingkat keaktifannya. Elektroda kerja yang digunakan dalam uji voltametri siklis adalah elektroda emas kabon dan polipirol politiofen yang akan dibandingkan sensitivitas kerjanya dalam menguji senyawa antimalaria turunan santon. Pengujian dilakukan menggunakan Potensiostat yang dijalankan dengan scan rate sebesar 100 mVs dan rentang potensial antara -1 Volt hingga 1 Volt. Pengujian voltametri siklis dengan elektroda kerja emas memiliki sensitivitas paling tinggi dengan menunjukkan besar puncak oksidasi lebih besar dibandingkan dengan kedua elektroda lainnya. Hasil voltametri siklis menunjukkan adanya korelasi antara sifat elektrokimia senyawa santon yang diuji dan aktivitasnya sebagai antimalaria. Semakin besar arus puncak oksidasi senyawa santon maka semakin kecil IC50 senyawa tersebut atau dengan kata lain aktivitas senyawa tersebut semakin besar sebagai agen antimalaria.


ABSTRACT

Assays of activity of the xanthone compounds as antimalarial agent has been carried out by cyclic voltammetric method. Xanthone compounds investigated were 946-mangosteen and 3-isomangosteen. The antimalarial compound that used as reference compound were derivates of xanthone and biflavonoid that the level of antimalarial activity were have been known. Working electrodes used in the cyclic voltammetric assays were gold carbon and polypyrrole polythiophene were compared each other to find out the sensitivity to the compounds. Investigated potensiostat were operated at scan rate 100 mV.s-1 and potential range from -1 V to 1 V. The assays showed that gold electrode has the highest sensitivity compared to carbon and polypyrrole polythiophene electrodes. The determination of xanthone compounds by cyclic voltammetric method showed that there was any correlations between its activity to its electrochemical properties. The higher oxidation current peak the lower IC50 of the xanthone compounds or in other word the higher activity of that compounds as antimalarial agent.
