STUDY OF CORRELATION SOME ANTIMALARIAL ALKALOID COMPOUNDS ACTIVITY WITH ELECTROCHEMICAL PROPERTIES BY CYCLIC VOLTAMMETRY

ABSTRAK

Telah dilakukan pengembangan metode untuk mengetahui korelasi antara aktivitas senyawa alkaloida sebagai antimalaria dengan sifat elektrokimia secara voltametri siklis menggunakan beberapa elektroda. Elektroda kerja yang digunakan antara lain elektroda emas elektroda karbon dan elektroda emas lapis polipirol dan politiofen dengan elektroda pembanding AgAgCl dan elektroda bantu berupa kawat platina. Senyawa antimalaria yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini antara lain cinchona base kuinin dihidroklorida dan kuinin hidroklorida yang divariasi dengan konsentrasi 2 4 6 8 dan 10 ppm. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan elektroda akan menunjukkan pola yang berbeda dan elektroda kerja yang paling sensitif adalah elektroda emas. Berdasarkan pengujian senyawa standar golongan santon yang telah diketahui adanya korelasi antara bioaktivitas dengan arus puncak oksidasi makin aktif suatu senyawa makin besar arus puncak oksidasi. Dari korelasi ini dapat ditentukan harga IC50 senyawa uji.


ABSTRACT

Research on antimalarial activity to the electrochemical properties of some alkaloid compound by cyclic voltammetry methode has been done. This method was carried out using three kinds of working electrodes gold carbon and gold coated with polypyrrole-polythiophene film. The antimalarial compound investigated were cinchona base quinine dihydrochloride and quinine hydrochloride with variated concentration 2 4 6 8 and 10 ppm. Gold electrode is the most sensitive electrode for this assay. The assay of standard xanthone compound result that the IC50 has been known using gold electrode gives correlation between IC50 and oxidation current peak. This correlation furthermore can be used to calculate the IC50 of unknown antimalarial compound.
