Description:

Terjadi kegagalan pada pressure vessel yang terbuat dari stainless steel yang dioperasikan pada temperature 1100oC. Bentuk kegagalan ini berupa kebocoran pada pressure vessel dan pressure vessel sudah rusak sebelum waktu yang ditentukan. Hal ini disebabkan keuletan baja tersebut rendah. Sehingga perlu dilakukan peningkatan kualitas pada bahan pressure vessel untuk memperbaiki sifat mekanik bahan tersebut. Perlakuan panas dilakukan untuk memperbaiki sifat mekanik bahan adalah kombinasi operasi pemanasan dan pendinginan terhadap logam atau paduan dalam keadaan padat dengan waktu tertentu, dimaksudkan untuk memperoleh sifat tertentu. Perlakuan yang digunakan adalah normalizing dengan variasi waktu tahan 1 jam, 1,5 jam dan 2 jam dengan temperatur 1100oC. Pengujian menggunakan uji bending, uji kekerasan Vickers, karakterisasi material menggunakan mikroskop optik, SEM serta XRD. Dari hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan diperoleh harga kekerasan maksimal pada spesimen dengan normalizing pada temperatur 11000C dengan waktu tahan 2 jam sebesar 190HV dan kekerasan terendah pada waktu tahan 1 jam sebesar 131HV. Dari hasil pengujian struktur mikro, SEM dan XRD didapatkan fase sigma (FeNi) dan presipitat karbida (Cr23C6) di batas butir. Dan dari hasil pengujian bending didapatkan nilai defleksi tertinggi pada spesimen dengan normalizing pada temperatur 11000C dengan waktu tahan 1 jam sebesar 20 mm dan nilai defleksi terendah pada waktu tahan 2 jam sebesar 16 mm.

There is a failure on the pressure vessel made of stainless steel which is operated at temperatures of 1100OC. This form of failure in the form of leaks in pressure vessels and pressure vessel has been damaged before the time specified. This is due to the low ductility of steel. Therefore important to improve the quality of the material pressure vessel to improve the mechanical properties of the material. The heat treatment carried out to improve the mechanical properties of materials is the combination of heating and cooling operations of metal or alloy in the solid state with a certain time, intended to acquire certain properties. The treatment used is normalizing with the variation of holding time of 1 hour, 1.5 hours and two hours with the temperature 1100oC. Tests using the bending test, Vickers hardness testing, characterization of materials using optical microscope, SEM and XRD. The research results have been obtained maximum hardness in the specimen by normalizing at a temperature of 1100OC for two hours holding time of violence 190HV and the lowest one-hour holding time for 131HV. From the test results microstructure, SEM and XRD showed the sigma phase (FeNi) and carbide precipitates (Cr23C6) at the grain boundaries. And from bending test results showed the highest deflection values on specimens with normalizing at a temperature of 1100OC for one hour holding time for 20 mm and the lowest value of deflection at the two-hour holding time for 16 mm.
