LPG merupakan bahan kimia berbahaya yang bersifat sangat mudah terbakar. Proses pekerjaan dengan menggunakan bahan baku LPG memerlukan suatu langkah pencegahan untuk mendeteksi kegagalan. Kegagalan fungsi dari suatu peralatan seperti pressure safety valve (PSV) dapat mengakibatkan peledakan pada tangki LPG. Untuk mengetahui seberapa besar pengaruh dari kegagalan terhadap terjadinya suatu ledakan, maka diperlukan suatu penelitian yang berupa skenario peledakan tangki LPG. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Chemical Process Quantitative Risk Analysis (CPQRA). Metode ini khusus digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi skenario insiden dari suatu kegagalan fungsi komponen yang berakibat pada peledakan tangki LPG. Untuk menentukan nilai dari skenario ini menggunakan tahapan prioritas berupa : definisi CPQRA, deskripsi sistem, identifikasi bahaya, pendataan insiden, pemilihan insiden, perhitungan frekuensi, perhitungan konsekuensi, dan perkiraan resiko. Berdasarkan efek ledakan pada tangki LPG\\\\\\\\ dapat diketahui nilai probit untuk efek ledakan pada bangunan (struktur) untuk senyawa butana dan propana adalah 4,21. Probability unit atau yang sering disebut probit adalah nilai kemungkinan untuk menentukan efek ledakan. Untuk efek ledakan tertinggi yang menyebabkan kematian manusia pada senyawa butana dan propana adalah 2,54 probit dengan prosentase kematian adalah 1% yang berjumlah sekitar 3 orang meninggal dari 300 karyawan. Efek ledakan tertinggi yang menyebabkan pecahnya gendang telinga pada manusia untuk senyawa butana dan propana adalah 6,64 dengan prosentase pecahnya gendang telinga 95% dengan jumlah 285 orang dari jumlah total 300 orang.

LPG is a hazardous chemical that is highly flammable. The working process by using raw materials of LPG requires a precaution to detect failures. The equipment failure such as a pressure safety valve (PSV) can result explosion at LPG tank. To find out how big the influence of the failure from the occurrence of an explosion, it needs research of LPG tank explosion scenario. This study uses the Chemical Process Quantitative Risk Analysis (CPQRA). This method is used to identify the specific incident scenario of a component failure that resulted in LPG tank explosion. To determine value of this scenario the priority phases: CPQRA definition, system description, hazard identification, incident data collection, the selection of incidents, the frequency calculation, the calculation of consequences, and risk estimation are used. The effect of LPG tank explosion it can be figure out the probit value for blast effects on buildings (structure) for butane and propane compound is 4.21. Probability unit which been called the probit is probability values to determine the effects of the explosion. For the highest effect blast that causes human death in the compound butane and propane is 2.54 probit with percentage mortality was 1% which amounted to about three people died from 300 employees. The highest explosive effect that caused the outbreak of the human eardrum for butane and propane compound is 6.64 with the percentage of eardrum rupture is 95% with a total 285 people from a total of 300 people.
