ABSTRAK

Pada kehidupan sehari-hari banyak dijumpai perpipaan dalam suatu sistem saluran fluida Khususnya di bidang industri. Sistem saluran fluida memegang peranan penting dalam distribusi fluida. Efisiensi dari suatu sistem saluran akan tercapai maksimal apabila desain maupun perancangannya dibuat dengan tepat. Perancangan ini meliputi penentuan diameter pipa posisi pipa sambungan-sambungan fitting dan belokan elbow. Elbow 90 merupakan salah satu komponen sistem perpipaan yang banyak digunakan dalam dunia industri. Dengan adanya elbow dalam suatu saluran maka dapat menyebabkan terjadinya kerugian tekanan pressure drop pada aliran. Presure drop yang terjadi pada aliran yang melintasi elbow 90 diakibatkan friction loss separation loss dan secondary loss. Oleh karena itu usaha pengurangan pressure drop perlu Dilakukan salah satunya adalah dengan penambahan sudu pengarah guide vane. Benda uji yang digunakan dalam rancangan tugas akhir ini adalah rectangular elbow 90 dengan radius ratio rmDh 1875 tanpa guide vane dan dengan penambahan tiga buah guide vanes. Angka Reynolds yang digunakan adalah 8776 14x105. Variabel yang diukur adalah tekanan stagnasi dan tekanan statis. Tekanan stagnasi diukur dengan menggunakan pitot tube sedangkan tekanan statis diukur dengan wall pressure tap. Penelitian akan dilakukan secara eksperimen dan studi numerik menggunakan software GAMBIT 2.4.6 dan Fluent 6.3.26. Penggunaan studi numerik dapat memberikan informasi mengenai fenomena aliran yang melintasi rectangular elbow 90. Dengan melakukan penelitian berupa penambahan tiga guide vanes dan meningkatkan angka Reynolds menjadi 8776 14x105 didapatkan hasil bahwa dengan penabahan tiga guide vanes pressure drop meningkat sebesar 520. Namun di sisi lain profil kecepatan pada tiga guide vanes lebih uniform dibandingkan elbow tanpa guide vane. Hasil yang didapat dari eksperimen dan numerik menunjukkan kesesuaian.


ABSTRACT

There are many piping system application in daily life especially industry. Ducting system plays an important role in fluid distribution. The efficiency of a ducting system would be maximal if the design is created properly. This design includes the determination of pipe diameter pipe position the connections fittings and bend elbow. One of piping system components that is widely used in industry is 90 elbow. Elbow in a ducting system could cause the loss of pressure pressure drop in the flow. Pressure drop that is occurred in the flow through the 90o elbow is due to friction loss separation loss and secondary loss. Therefore pressure drop reduction needs to be done one of the effort is with the addition of guide vane. The model used in this study is a rectangular 90 elbow with a radius ratio rmDh 1.875 without guide vane and with the addition of three guide vanes. The flow Reynolds number is 14 x105. The variables which are measured are the stagnation pressure and static pressure.Stagnation pressure was measured using a pitot tube while the static pressure was measured with a wall pressure tap. Research was conducted using experimental and numerical studies using GAMBIT software 2.4.6 and Fluent software 6.3.26. The use of numerical studies can provide information about flow through the rectangular 90 elbow . From the study it is showed that the addition of three guide vanes increase the pressure drop until 520. However the velocity profile in the elbow with guide vanes is more uniform than the elbow without guide vane. The results obtained from experimental and numerical studies show good agreement.
