ABSTRAK

Sepeda motor merupakan satu dari berbagai sarana transportasi darat yang cocok digunakan untuk menjangkau berbagai daerah dan tempat terpencil dengan pertimbangan ongkos yang murah. Sepeda motor dapat dinaiki sendiri ataupun dengan penumpang dibelakangnya. Kekuatan suatu rantai kendaraan merupakan masalah yang sangat penting pada performa kendaraan. Rantai yang mengalami kemuluran akan membuat performa kendaraan menjadi menurun. Kekuatan suatu rantai sepeda motor dapat dianalisa pada saat berjalan dengan analisa gaya terbesar pada kondisi jalan tanjakan . Ketika kendaraan berjalan seringkali memberikan respon hentakan yang tak terduga yang dapat mengakibatkan rantai cepat mengalami kemuluran. Rantai akan cepat mengalami kemuluran pada sepeda motor yang sering diberi beban berat dan sering terjadi hentakan mendadak. Penelitian diawali dengan mencari dan mempelajari berbagai teori penunjang yang berkaitan dengan kekuatan dan kemuluran rantai dilanjutkan dengan mencari data kendaraan melalui brosur spesifikasi kendaraan dan pengukuran langsung pada kendaraan. Kemudian dilakukan analisa kekuatan dan kemuluran rantai pada sepeda motor dengan melakukan perumusan gayamomen inersia dan tegangan rantai dengan kondisi jalan tanjakan dan start awal. Dari hasil analisa dengan sudut kemiringan jalan maksimum 600 maka didapatkan tegangan rantai maksimum 963 4996194 Nmm2 dan total kemuluran rantai LTotal 955016 mm. Sehingga untuk total kemuluran rantai LTotal 955016 mm maka pada baut penyetel rantai ditarik kebelakang sebesar S 1005615 mm dan dari hasil plot Grafik Endurance Limit dengan stress cycles n cycles didapatkan n 65.105 sehingga diperkirakan umur pemakaian rantai 54167 Tahun.


ABSTRACT

Motor cycle is the one of many vehicles which is usually used to reach many places with low cost. Motor cycle could be ride with one or two passengers. The one of main crucial factor to motor performance is the power of chain. The elongation of chain will make reducing performance of vehicle. The power of chain can be analyzed while that motor is running with the biggest force analyze while the vehicle hrough the uphill road. While the vehicle moving around sometimes it got unexpected shock load which will cause extension of chain elongation. The chain will get faster elongation to the vehicle that often had heavy load and shock load. The experiment is started by searching and learning the supporting theory which is related with the power and elongation of chain and then find the vehicle data through vechicles brochure specification and direct measurement. And then conducting power analyze and elongation of chain to motor bike by making the equation force moment of inertia and chain stress with the uphill road. From the analyze which had been done with maximum road angle is 60o then we got maksimum chain stress 963 4996194 Nmm2 and the total chain elongation LTotal 955016 mm. So for the total chain elongation LTotal 955016 mm and then chain setting bolt pulled back long S 1005615 mm and from Endurance Limit graph with stress cycles n cycleswe got 65.105so according to those data the chain life cycle is predicted 54167 years
