ABSTRAK

Telah terjadi kebocoran pada pipa air minum pesawat terbang Airbus A-330. Menurut informasi yang didapat pipa ini telah digunakan selama 4683048 hours 12207 cycles TSI Time Since Installed pada tanggal 24 nopember 2009. Materiial pipa termasuk ke dalam kelompok austenitic stainless steel jenis CRES Corrosion Resistant Steel 21-6-9. Pada penggunaanya pipa air minum ini diselubungi oleh insulasi. Tujuan pemasangan insulasi untuk melekatkan pemanas pada pipa. pemasangan pemanas bertujuan untuk menghindari terbentuknya es pada aliran air saat temperatur rendah. Dari hasil penyelidikan penyebab kebocoran disebabkan oleh kombinasi retakan yang dimulai dari permukaan luar dan dalam pipa. Retakan yang berasal dari permukaan luar pipa disebabkan oleh korosi yang terbentuk pada area dibawah insulasi. Korosi ini disebut under insulation corrosion CUI. Sedangkan retakan yang berasal dari permukaan dalam pipa disebabkan oleh inklusi sulphur dan chlor. Terdapat kandungan sulfur dan chlor dalam jumlah yang banyak jika dibandingakan dengan kandungannya pada logam pada daerah awal retakan dan daerah penjalaran retak. Tindakan pencegahan harus segera dilakukan agar kejadian serupa tidak terjadi di masa yang akan datang. Tindakan pencegahan yang bisa dilakukan adalah dengan mengganti insulasi melakukan coating dan mengontrol kualitas air minum.


ABSTRACT

There has been leakage in potable water tube on aircraft Airbus A-330. According to information was obtained the tube has been used during 4683048 hours 12207 cycles TSI Time Since Installed on 24 November 2009. Materialof tube belonging to the group of austenitic stainless steel type of CRES Corrosion Resistant Steel 21-6-9. In the system potable water tube is covered by insulation. The purpose of the installation of insulation to embed a heater on the pipe. The aim of heater installation is to avoid the formation of ice on the water flow at low temperatures. Series of investigation and testing have been performed and the results show that the leakage is caused by a combination of surface cracks which started from the outside and inside the tube. Cracks which originate from the outer surface of the tube was caused by corrosion that attack area under insulation. it is called corrosion under insulation CUI. While the internal crack from the surface cracks in pipes was caused by the inclusion of sulfur and chlorine. There are significant amount of sulfur and chlorine at the crack initiation and crack propagation path. Precautions must be taken hence similar incidents do not occur in the future. Preventive measures that can be done is to replace the insulation regularly action coating and control the quality of potable water.
