ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari pembuatan silika gel dari abu bagasse yang dicangkok gugus amine untuk menyerap gas karbon dioksida CO2. Silika dalam abu bagasse diekstraksi dengan 2 N NaOH untuk mendapatkan larutan sodium silikat. Larutan sodium silikat ini digunakan sebagai precursor untuk membuat silika gel yang kemudian dicangkok gugus amine. Untuk memproduksi silika gel larutan sodium silikat dilewatkan dalam resin penukar ion dengan rasio 21. Untuk mengatur pH hingga mencapai 6-9 ditambahkan larutan 1 N NH4OH pada larutan asam silicic. Gel yang dihasilkan kemudian di-aging pada suhu kamar dan waktu tertentu kemudian dikeringkan pada suhu 100oC. Setelah itu silika gel dicangkok dengan mencampurnya bersama 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane dan toluene sebagai pelarutnya melalui proses refluks selama 18 jam. Silika gel yang dihasilkan dengan kondisi terbaik berupa surface area dengan luas 516134 m2g dekomposisi massa amine dengan penurunan massa sebesar 604 pada suhu 300oC terdapat gugus fungsi amine dan dan kapasitas adsorpsi paling besar adalah silika gel dengan pH8 dan waktu aging 24 jam. Kapasitas adsorpsi CO2 sebesar 1169 ccg pada relative pressure 0.845054.


ABSTRACT

The purpose of this work is to study the preparation of amine-grafted silica gel for CO2 adsorption from bagasse ash. Silica in bagasse ash was extracted by alkali 2 N NaOH extraction to produce sodium silicate solution. The sodium silicate solution was used as precursor to make silica gel which is to be grafted with amine. To produce silica gel the silicate solution was mixed with cation exchange resin with a ratio of 21 under stirring to produce silicic acid pH2. The silicic acid was adjusted 6-9 by adding 1N NH4OH solution to induce gel formation. The gel was aged roon temperature for 12 18 and 24 h. And then dried at 100oC for 24h. The amine grafted was conducted by reflux the the mixture of the silica gel with 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane in toluene for 18h. Silica gel is produced with the best conditions for a surface area of 516.134 m2 g decomposition of amines with a reduced mass of the mass of 6.04 at a temperature of 300oC there are amine functional groups and most large and the adsorption capacity is silica gel with a pH 8 and aging time of 24 hours. Adsorption capacity is 1169 ccg CO2 volume at a relative pressure 0.845054.
