ANALYSIS OF IGNITION CURRENT IZ AND DISCHARGE VOLTAGE UZ INFLUENCE AGAINST SURFACE ROUGHNESS MATERIAL REMOVAL RATE AND ELECTRODE WEAR ON EDM SINKING EXERON 104 E MACHINING PROCESS

ABSTRAK

Proses pemesinan non konvensional EDM Sinking merupakan proses pemesinan yang sanggup memenuhi tuntutan kompleksitas goemetri produk yang melingkupi kualitas diemensi kepresisian dan kekasaran permukan. Salah satu produk yang sering dikerjakan oleh mesin EDM sinking adalah dies dan mould yang memiliki kekerasan yang tinggi. Peranan dies dan mould dalam proses manufaktur seperti deep drawing forging dll berpengaruh terutama pada kualitas ketepatan dimensi kepresisian dan kekasaran permukaan dies. Maka dari itu untuk meningkatkan produktivitas dan kualitas hasil produk sesuai yang di harapkan maka pengetahuan parameter selama proses permesinan haruslah baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari pengaruh Ignition current Iz dan Discharge voltage Uz terhadap kekasaran produk laju pembuangan geram MRR dan electrode wear ratio. Experiment dilakukan pada mesin EDM sinking EXERON 104 E dengan benda kerja SKD 11 yang sering digunakan sebagai bahan dies dengan tembaga sebagai electrode materialnya. Dalam pengujian ini variable bebasnya adalah Ignition current Iz dan Discharge voltage Uz sedangkan parameter pengujian yang konstan adalah arus 20 Amp on-time 40s off-time 16s dan kedalaman pemotongan sebesar 05 mm. Hasil akhir penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa dari hasil analisis tabel ANOVA pada metode Taguchi parameter Discharge voltage Uz memberikan pengaruh yang lebih besar daripada Ignition current Iz. Nilai parameter yang menghasilkan kekasaran permukaan yang minimum adalah Iz pada level 1 1 amp dan Uz pada level 1 100 volt. Sedangkan harga parameter untuk laju pembuangan geram yang optimum dan electrode wear ratio yang minimum adalah pada Iz level 6 6 amp dan Uz level 3 250 volt. Secara umum untuk mendapatkan laju pembuangan geram yang cukup besar dan juga memiliki nilai kekasaran permukaan dan wear ratio yang cukup kecil dapat menggunakan kombinasi parameter kendali pada Iz level 4 4 amp dan Uz level 2 150 volt. Setting ini hanya berlaku pada interval variabel proses yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini.


ABSTRACT

Non-conventional machining processes Sinking EDM is a machining process that could meet the demands of the complexity surrounding product geometry dimension quality precision and surface roughness. One product that is often done by sinking EDM machines are the dies and molds that have high hardness. The role of dies and molds in the manufacturing process such as deep drawing forging etc. affect mainly on the quality dimension of accuracy precision dies and surface roughness. Therefore to improve productivity and quality of the products according to the expected then the knowledge of the parameters during the machining process must be good. This study aimed to study the effect of Ignition current Iz and Discharge voltage Uz against the roughness of the product material removal rate MRR and electrode wear ratio. Experiment performed on EXERON 104 E sinking EDM with SKD 11 as a work piece which is often used as dies with copper as the electrode material. In this test the independent variable is the Ignition current Iz and Discharge voltage Uz while the constant parameters is the current 20 Amp on-time 40956s 16956s off-time and depth of cutting 0.5 mm. The final results of this study from the analysis of the ANOVA table in the Taguchi method concluded that the discharge voltage parameter Uz gives greater influence than the Ignition current Iz. Value of the Parameters that produce a minimum surface roughness is Iz at level 1 1 amp and Uz at level 1 100 volts. While the optimum parameters value for material removal rate and minimum electrode wear ratio is Iz at level 6 6 amp and Uz at level 3 250 volts. In general we can use Iz at level 4 4 amp and Uz at level 2 150 volt to get a big enough value for MRR but also has a good value for surface roughness and the wear ratio. This setting only applies to variable intervals of the process undertaken in this study.
