Pada penelitian ini telah dipelajari sintesis dan aktivitas serta selektivitas katalis ZnO, MgF2 dan Mg1-xZnxF2 (x = 0,025; 0,050; 0,100 dan 0,150 mol) dalam reaksi sintesis α-tokoferol. Katalis dipreparasi kemudian dikarakterisasi dengan Difraksi sinar-X, FTIR-adsopsi piridin dan ditentukan luas permukaannya. Data XRD menunjukkan bahwa katalis MgF2 dan Mg1-xZnxF2 memiliki struktur yang sama yaitu tetragonal. Analisis FTIR–piridin menunjukkan semua katalis hasil sintesis memiliki sisi asam Lewis dan Brønsted sedangkan luas permukaan katalis turun dengan adanya doping Zn. Aktivitas katalis ditentukan berdasarkan besarnya konversi reaktan trimetilhidrokuinon. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aktivitas tertinggi dengan katalis MgF2 sebesar 98,47% dan selektivitas
α-tokoferol tertinggi pada Mg0,950Zn0,050F2 sebesar 84,98%.

In this research, synthesis, activity and selectivity of ZnO, MgF2 and Mg1-xZnxF2 catalyst (x = 0,025; 0,050; 0,100 and 0,150 mol) has been investigated. The prepared solid catalyst were characterized by X-ray diffraction, FTIR and surface area measurement.The XRD data presented MgF2 and Mg1-xZnxF2 have tetragonal structure. FTIR spectra of pyridine for all catalysts have Lewis and Brønsted acid sites and surface area of catalyst decreased with increased Zn doping. The catalytic activity were determined based on percentage of trimethylhydroquinone convertion. The result show that MgF2 has the highest activity 98,47% and Mg0,950Zn0,050F2 has the highest selectivity of α-tokoferol 84,98%.
