Serbuk gergaji (Sawdust) adalah hasil proses produk pengolahan kayu yang umumnya di anggap sebagai limbah. Serbuk gergaji tidak dapat di daur ulang menjadi bahan ataupun hal yang berguna, namun dapat diminimalkan dengan memanfaatkannya sebagai bahan baku biogas karena serbuk gergaji mengandung selulosa sebesar 30-50% yang berbentuk lignoselulosa. Oleh karena itu diperlukan alkali pre-treatment untuk memecah lignoselulosa menjadi selulosa, hemiselulosa dan lignin. Tujuan dari penelitian in adalah memanfaatkan serbuk gergaji sebagai bahan baku pembuatan biogas, mengetahui pengaruh dari penambahan NaOH pada pretreatment cellulotic materials pada serbuk gergaji, mengetahui pengaruh dari Organic Loading Rate ( OLR ) terhadap produksi biogas pada proses kontinyu. Bahan baku yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalahserbuk gergaji yang telah melalui proseses pretreatment dengan variabel konsentrasi NaOH 0 wt%, 2 wt%, 4 wt%, dan feed yang nantinya akan dimasukan dalam reaktor sesuai dengan variabel dari OLR yaitu 2 gr COD/L.hari, 3,5 gr COD/L.hari. Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh degradasi cellulotic material untuk variabel penambahan NaOH 2% dan 4% untuk selulosa, hemiselulosa dan lignin berturut-turut 11,38%,28,6%,35,18% dan 12,23%,44,4%,46,92%. Untuk produksi gas untuk variabel NaOH 2% dan 4% pada variabel OLR 2 gr COD/L.liter berturut-turut 8,7 liter/kg serbuk gergaji dan 4,77 liter/kg serbuk gergaji dan variable 3,5 gr COD/L.hari 12,9 liter/kg serbuk gergaji dan 6,038 ii liter/kg serbuk gergaji. Menghasilkan gas metana untuk 2% NaOH dan 4% NaOH 68,7% dan 66,8%. Dengan nilai heating value 4708,38 kcal/kg dan 4580,23 kcal/kg

Sawdust (Sawdust) is the result of the processing of wood products that are generally considered as waste. Sawdust can not be recycled into useful materials or things, but can be re-use as a raw material for biogas. Sawdust contains 30-50% cellulose in the form of lignocelluloses materials of woods. Alkaline pretreatment is needed to break down lignocellulose into cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin to make lignocelluloses materials more easy to proceed into next step. The purpose this research is to use sawdust as raw material for biogas, and to study the effect of the addition of NaOH pretreatment to cellulotic materials on the sawdust, and also the effect of the Organic Loading Rate (OLR) to biogas production in a continuous process. Raw materials used in this study is sawdust that has been through proseses NaOH pretreatment with variable concentrations of 0 wt%, 2 wt%, 4 wt%, and feed that will be the inlet of the reactor are according to the variables of OLR is 2 g COD / L . day, 3.5 g COD / L.hari. From the results of the research the data obtained for cellulotic degradation of the material for the variable addition of NaOH 2% and 4% for cellulose, hemicelluloses and lignin respectively 11.38%, 28.6%, 35.18% and 12.23%, 44.4%, 46.92%. For the production of gas for the variable NaOH 2% and 4% on a variable OLR 2 g COD / L.liter consecutive 8.7 liters / kg of sawdust and iv 4.77 liter / kg of sawdust and a variable 3.5 g COD / L . day of 12.9 liters / kg of sawdust and 6.038 liters / kg of sawdust. Produce methane gas for 2% NaOH and 4% NaOH 68.7% and 66.8%. With the value of heating value of 4708.38 kcal /kg and 4580.23kcal/.kg.
