Description:
Konversi mesin diesel menjadi mesin berbahan bakar gas mempunyai pengaruh terhadap proses pembakaran. Untuk dapat mengoptimalkan proses pembakaran pada bahan bakar gas harus mempunyai ruang bakar yang lebih besar. Pada penulisan ini dilakukan analisa tegangan pada piston original dan yang telah dimodifikasi. Tahapan pertama adalah pengumpulan data mesin, seperti tekanan pembakaran maksimal, dimensi piston, material piston, dan temperature maksimal silinder. Kemudian dilakukan pembuatan model piston pada softwere AutoCAD. Model yang sudah jadi dianalisa dengan menggunakan Finite Element Method (FEM). Langkah-langkah yang dilakukan untuk anlisa FEM yaitu pembentukan mesh, input material properties, boundry condition dan yang terakhir adalah analisa model. Karena ingin mengetahui tegangan piston, maka penganalisaan dilakukan pada kondisi torsi maksimal, dengan Compression Ratio (CR) yang bervariasi. Dengan adanya variasi CR tekanan maksimal pembakaran dan temperature maksimal pada piston juga akan bervariasi. Dari hasil analisa struktur tegangan terbesar yaitu 339 N/mm2 di daerah lubang pin piston, sedangkan temperature terbesar yaitu 969oC di daerah piston head. Pada CR 19 piston dapat menahan beban dari tekanan dan temperature.

Diesel engine conversión to gas fuel engine make effect to combustión process. For optimizing combustión process at gas fuel, it must have a big combustión chamber. On this research conducted stress analysis at original piston and modification piston. First step are engine data collecting, such as maximal combustión pressure, piston dimensión, piston material and maximal temperature of cylinder. Then, makes piston model with AutoCad. Ready model will analize with finite element method (FEM). steps procedure for FEM analysis are mesh making, material properties input, boundry condition and finally model analizing. Because we want to know piston stress, analysis conducted at maximal torque condition with compression ratio (CR) variation. CR variation caused maximal pressure and maximal temperature also variated. From structure analysis result the largest stress is 339 N/mm2 at hole of piston pin zone, even though the largest temperature is 969oC at piston head zone. At CR 19 piston can stand the load from pressure and temperature.
