ABSTRAK

Sumber utama energi dunia berasal dari energi fosil yang bersifat tidak dapat diperbaharui hal ini mendorong banyak pihak untuk mencari energi alternatif yang bersifat renewable dapat diperbaharui. Salah satunya yaitu dengan memanfaatkan fenomena Vortex Induced Vibration VIV. Tugas akhir ini memfokuskan bahasan tentang silinder osilasi tunggal pada pembangkit listrik tenaga vortex. Variasi jarak antara silinder osilasi dan dasar perairan akan menghasilkan perbedaan amplitudo. Kekasaran dasar perairan juga turut mempengaruhi amplitudo yang dihasilkan. Dengan memodelkan kekasaran dasar perairan dan juga memvariasikan jarak silinder osilasi terhadap dasar perairan dengan ANSYS 12.0 CFD dilanjutkan dengan perhitungan numerik dari persamaan dinamika struktur maka akan didapat besar amplitudo pada silinder osilasi. Selanjutnya akan dihitung daya listrik. Hasil yang didapat menunjukkan bahwa semakin besar kekasaran dasar perairan maka amplitudo yang dihasilkan akan semakin kecil. Penelitian ini juga menunjukkan bahwa jarak ideal agar daya listrik yang dihasilkan silinder osilasi tidak terpengaruh oleh dasar perairan yang memiliki nilai Ks 0 - 002m yaitu 342D dari dasar perairan.


ABSTRACT

The main source of the worlds energy comes from non-renewable fossil fuels which encourages many people to seek alternatives for energy that is renewable. One of them is to abuse the phenomena of Vortex Induced Vibration VIV. This final project is to focus the discussion on a single oscillating part at the vortex power plant. Change the distance between oscillating part and the bottom will result in the difference of the amplitudes. Pavement roughness also affects the amplitude of the result. By modeling the roughness of the bottom boundary and also varying the distance of the oscillation part on the bottom with ANSYS 12.0 CFD followed by a numerical calculation of the structural dynamics equations will get amplitude for the oscillating part. The following will be calculated. The results showed that the greater the roughness of the base then the resulting amplitude will be smaller. The study also shows that the optimum distance for electrical energy which is produced by oscillating part does not depend on the bottom which has Ks value of 342 D from 0 to 002 m from the bottom boundary.
