ABSTRAK

Boezem Morekrembangan telah tercemar limbah domestik. Padahal menurut Perda Surabaya No.2 Tahun 2004 air Boezem Morokrembangan merupakan badan air kelas III. Air limbah domestik mengandung bahan organik yang dapat menurunkan jumlah oksigen dalam air dan mengganggu kehidupan akuatik. Jumlah bahan organik pada air limbah domestik diketahui dari Chemical Oxygen Demand COD. Penelitian ini menggunakan High Rate Alga Reactor HRAR yaitu reaktor yang memanfaatkan simbiosis mutualisme antara mikroorganisme dan alga. Alga yang dipakai adalah Spirulina sp. Ada dua sistem yang dapat mempengaruhi kinerja HRAR yaitu aerasi dan mixing. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menentukan persentase penurunan COD dengan variasi konsentrasi Spirulina sp. dan menentukan persentase penurunan COD dengan sistem aerasi dan mixing. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode batch. Sistem aerasi dilakukan dengan alat diffuser dan sistem mixing menggunakan pompa akuarium. Parameter pendukung yang dianalisa adalah Dissolved Oxygen DO klorofil a suhu dan pH. Parameter-parameter tersebut adalah parameter pendukung pertumbuhan Spirulina sp. dan mikroorganisme. Sampel yang digunakan adalah air limbah buatan artifisial dan air dari Boezem Morokrembangan. Limbah artifisial diteliti untuk mengetahui kinerja Spirulina sp. tanpa alga jenis lain sedangkan air boezem diteliti untuk mengetahui kinerja Spirulina sp. dengan adanya keragaman alga. Spirulina sp. tidak dapat membantu mikroorganisme menurunkan COD secara signifikan. Penurunan COD tertinggi hanya 1165 yaitu pada konsentrasi alga 05 mgL. Rata-rata persentase penurunan COD pada limbah artifisial dengan sistem aerasi dan mixing berturut-turut adalah 034 dan -1409. Pada sampel air boezem persentase penurunan COD dengan sistem aerasi dan mixing berturut-turut adalah -1145 dan -1278.


ABSTRACT

Boezem Morokrembangan is polluted by domestic waste. Yet according to Regulation Area Surabaya City Number 2 2004 the water of Boezem Morokrembangan are classified in water bodies class III. Domestic waste water containing organic matter can reduce the amount of oxygen in the water and disrupt aquatic life. The amount of organic matter in domestic wastewater can be determined from Chemical Oxygen Demand COD. One of the waste water treatment systems is a High Rate Alga Reactor HRAR. HRAR is reactor utilizing the symbiotic mutualism between microorganisms and alga. The alga used in this study is Spirulina sp. There are two systems that can affect the performance of HRAR the aeration and mixing. The purpose of this study is to determine the percentage of COD removal by various concentration of Spirulina sp. and determine the percentage of COD removal in by aeration and mixing systems. This study uses a batch method. Aeration uses diffuser and mixing uses an aquarium pump. Supporters of the analyzed parameters are Dissolved Oxygen DO chlorophyll a temperature and pH. These parameters are supporting the growth of Spirulina sp. and microorganisms. The samples are artificial wastewater and water from Boezem Morokrembangan. Artificial waste is studied to determine the performance of Spirulina sp. without the availabilityof other alga while the boezem water is studied to determine the performance of Spirulina sp. in which the diversity of alga is exist. Spirulina sp. cannot help microorganism reduce COD significantly. The highest percentage of COD removal is 11.65 by 0.5 mgL Spirulina sp. concentration. The average percentages of COD removal on artificial wastewater with aeration system and mixing system are 0.34 and -14.09 respectively. In boezem water samples average percentage of COD removal in aeration system and mixing system are -11.45 and -12.78 respectively.
