EFEK DURASI PENCAHAYAAN PADA SISTEM HRAR UNTUK MENURUNKAN KANDUNGAN MINYAK DALAM AIR LIMBAH

ABSTRAK

Kandungan minyak di dalam air limbah industri perminyakan umumnya bersifat toksik terhadap mikroorganisme. Selain itu kandungan minyak juga dapat menghambat perpindahan oksigen dari udara ke dalam air dan mengganggu proses pengolahan secara biologis. Sistem HRAR diperkirakan dapat mengatasi hambatan kebutuhan oksigen oleh mikroorganisme untuk mendegradasi senyawa hidrokarbon melalui proses fotosintesis alga. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji pengaruh perpanjangan waktu pencahayaan pada kemampuan HRAR dalam menurunkan kandungan minyak di dalam limbah. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam dua tahap yaitu penelitian pendahuluan dan penelitian utama. Penelitian pendahuluan dilakukan utuk mendapatkan range konsentrasi minyak solar optimum yang dapat ditoleransi oleh alga dengan menggunakan prameter pH klorofil A dan MLSS. Konsentrasi minyak solar optimum yang didapatkan pada penelitian pendahuluan ini adalah penambahan minyak solar sebesar 519 ppm. Sedangkan range minyak solar yang digunakan pada penelitian utama adalah penambahan minyak solar sebesar 346 ppm 519 ppm dan 692 ppm. Selanjutnya pada penelitian utama digunakan variasi konsentrasi minyak solar dan variasi durasi pencahayaan. Sedangkan parameter yang diamati adalah konsentrasi minyak klorofil A MLSS COD intensitas cahaya pH DO dan suhu. Hasil yang didapatkan dari penelitian ini adalah durasi pencahayaan selama 12 jam memiliki efek yang lebih baik terhadap penurunan konsentrasi minyak yang diikuti dengan baiknya pertumbuhan alga dan bakteri di dalam reaktor dibandingkan dengan durasi pencahayaan selama 24 jam. Hal ini dapat terlihat dari penurunan konsentrasi minyak solar pada reaktor dengan durasi pencahayaan selama 12 jam dan penambahan minyak solar 346 ppm adalah sebesar 784. Sedangkan penurunan kandungan minyak solar pada reaktor dengan penambahan minyak solar 346 ppm dan pencahayaan selama 24 jam adalah sebesar 739.


ABSTRACT

Oil content in petroleum industry wastewater is generally toxic to microorganisms. It also inhibits the transfer of oxygen from the air into water and interferes the biological treatment processes. HRAR system is expected to overcome the obstacles of oxygen demand by microorganisms to degrade hydrocarbons through the photosynthesis process of algae. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of extension of light exposure time on HRAR ability in reducing the oil content in wastewater. A preliminary and a primary study were implemented in this study. The purpose of the preliminary study was to determine the optimum range of diesel oils concentration that was tolerated by algae. The parameters used in preliminary study were pH chlorophyll a and MLSS. The optimum concentration of diesel oil obtained in the preliminary study was the addition of 519 ppm. Based on these preliminary study the concentration of diesel oil added to the primary study were 346 ppm 519 ppm and 692 ppm. Variations that used in the primary study were variation of diesel oil concentrations and light exposure times. Moreover the parameters that is used in the primary study were oil content chlorophyll a MLSS COD light exposure time temperature pH and DO. The result from this study is that the duration of exposure for 12 hours has a better effect to reduce the concentration oil content in reactor. In addition the reactor which was exposed for 12 hours has a significant growth of algae and bacteria than the reactor which was exposed for 24 hours. It is showed from the reduction of the diesel oils concentration in the reactor during the exposure time to 12 hours and the addition of 346 ppm diesel oil were 784. Besides the reduction of diesel oil content in the reactor with the addition of diesel oil 346 ppm and lighting for 24 hours was equal to 739.
