PENGOLAHAN LIMBAH CAIR RUMAH MAKAN MENGGUNAKAN MEMBRAN NANOFILTRASI ZEOLIT ALIRAN CROSS-FLOW UNTUK FILTRASI KEKERUHAN MINYAK DAN LEMAK

RESTAURANT WASTEWATER TREATMENT BY USING CROSS-FLOW ZEOLITE NANOFILTRATION MEMBRANE FOR FILTRATION OF TURBIDITY OIL AND GREASE

ABSTRAK

Perkembangan bisnis makanan terutama rumah makan memiliki dampak yang merugikan terhadap lingkungan yang disebabkan oleh pembuangan limbah cair rumah makan tanpa diolah terlebih dahulu. Limbah cair rumah makan yang tidak diolah menyebabkan penyumbatan pipa saluran air limbah dan meningkatkan beban pengolahan pada instalasi pengolahan air limbah. Salah satu alternatif pengolahan air limbah yang potensial adalah menggunakan membran nanofiltrasi dengan ukuran pori sebesar 0001 956m sehingga dapat menyaring air limbah dengan kadar organik yang cukup tinggi. Bahan baku membran yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah zeolit alam sehingga dalam penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh massa zeolit terbaik dalam pembuatan membran nanofiltrasi memperoleh nilai rejeksi dan nilai fluks membran pada variasi massa zeolit dan konsentrasi air limbah. Penelitian ini dimulai dengan menyiapkan zeolit alam sebagai bahan baku membran kemudian disintesis sehingga didapatkan kandungan zeolit murni. Selanjutnya membran dibuat dari zeolit yang sudah disintesis dan dianalisis morfologinya dengan menggunakan SEM-EDX. Pengujian membran menggunakan reaktor cross-flow. Dalam pengujian ini akan didapatkan nilai fluks dan nilai rejeksi dari masing-masing variasi massa zeolit dan konsentrasi limbah. Variasi konsentrasi limbah adalah campuran limbah dengan air PDAM sebesar 100 75 25 dan 50 50. Variasi massa zeolit yang digunakan adalah 3 gram dan 6 gram.


ABSTRACT

The development of food business especially restaurants have harm impacts for environment which caused by wasting untreated wastewater. Restaurant wastewater affected blockage of sewages pipes and increase the processing load on the wastewater treatment plant. One of the potential alternatives for wastewater treatment is nanofiltration membranes with pore size of 0001 956m which could filter wastewater with high organic content. The material which used in this case is natural zeolite. Thus this study aims to obtain the optimum mass of zeolite in the production of nanofiltration membranes obtaining the value of rejection and flux from zeolite membranes on mass variations and waste water concentrations. This study was begun by setting up of natural zeolite as a membrane material and then synthesized to obtain pure zeolite. Subsequently membranes made by synthesized zeolite then analyzed its the morphology used SEM-EDX. Membrane testing used a cross-flow reactor. In this test the variation of each zeolite mass and wastewater concentration influenced both of flux and rejection value. Variation of concentration that used were pure wastewater which mixed with water in ratio 100 75 25 and 50 50. Mass variation zeolite that used were 3 grams and 6 grams. The results showed that the best mass of zeolite for zeolite nanofiltration membranes was 6 grams.
