ABSTRAK

Pada dunia perkapalan baja tahan karat AISI 316 sering digunakan pada tangki kapal tanker yang mengangkut bahan kimia dan minyak mentah. Pengelasan adalah cara yang digunakan untuk menyambung material dari semua konstruksi diatas. Proses pengelasan pada baja tahan karat 316 yang melewati range temperatur sensitis 500C - 800C akan menyebabkan presipitasi karbida krom pada batas butir akibatnya jika berada pada media korosif cenderung terjadi korosi batas butir intergranular corrosion. Untuk mengurangi presipitasi karbida krom maka dilakukan proses perlakuan panas pasca pengelasan dengan pendinginan cepat. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan pengujian pada baja tahan karat 316 yang telah mengalami proses pengelasan kemudian dilakukan proses perlakuan panas pasca pengelasan dan pendinginan cepat dengan variasi temperatur pemanasan. Variasi temperatur pemanasan yang digunakan adalah 850C 900C 950C dan 1000C. Kemudian dilakukan pengujian foto mikro pengujian laju korosi dan pengujian foto makro. Pengujian laju korosi menggunakan sel tiga elektroda dengan larutan elektrolit NaCl. Berdasarkan hasil pengujian dan perhitungan laju korosi diperoleh nilai laju korosi untuk temperatur pemanasan 850C 900C 950C dan 1000C yaitu sebesar 0.345 mmpy 0.332 mmpy 0.327 mmpy dan 0.225 mmpy maka dapat diketahui bahwa semakin naiknya temperatur pemanasan akan diperoleh laju korosi yang semakin kecil. Dari hasil pengujian foto mikro diperoleh presipitasi karbida krom yang semakin berkurang dengan naiknya temperatur pemanasan.


ABSTRACT

At shipping world stainless steel AISI 316 often used at tank of tanker vessels which transporting crude oil and chemicals. Welding is the way to joint materials from all constructions above. Welding process in stainless steel 316 in the range of sensitic temperature 500C - 800C causes chromium carbide precipitate at grain boundary. Intergranular corrosion will accour if the steel placed in corrosive medium. Post weld heat treatment is a method to reduce chromium carbide precipitation at grain boundary. This research examinates corrosion rate of stainless steel 316 after welding process. In which post weld heat treatment was conducted in variation heating temperature. The variation of heating temperature that are 850C 900C 950C and 1000C. Photo micro photo macro and corrosion rate tests with electrolyte of NaCl were conducted. The result indicated that for heating temperature of 850C 900C 950C and 1000C the corrosion rate are 0.345 0.332 0.327 and 0.225 mmpy respectively. According to the test result the higher heating temperature result in lesser corrosion rate. Photo micro test showed that the higher the heating temperature the lesser the chromium carbide precipitate along boundary line.
