ABSTRAK

Pada pipa yang dipendam didalam tanah sering terjadi kegagalan deformasi. Kegagalan deformasi global yang menyebabkan pipa menekuk vertikal ke atas yang disebut sebagai upheaval buckling. Lengkungan awal pada pipa penyalur yang terpasang bisa terjadi akibat kombinasi dari kenaikan temperatur saat operasional dan gaya friksi tanah akan menghasilkan gaya tekan aksial efektif pada pipa. Salah satu cara yang akan dibahas pada penelitian ini jika terjadi upheaval buckling adalah pemasangan loop ekspansi pada daerah yang mengalami upheaval buckling. Loop ekspansi akan divariasikan dengan 2 tipe yaitu tipe loop horizontal dan tipe loop vertical. Pada penelitian ini terlebih dahulu pipa dimodelkan dengan panjang pipa tertentu kemudian ujung-ujungnya diberi tumpuan sehingga didapatkan besar tegangan longitudinal sebesar 41366563 Psi. Tegangan tersebut melebihi tegangan ijin sehingga pipa mengalami ekspansi termal atau elongasi yang membentuk lengkungan keatas dengan tinggi 0.259 meter. Maka dilakukan pemodelan loop ekspansi untuk meredam elongasi tersebut dengan panjang loop 5.3 meter. Kedua loop tersebut mampu meredam tegangan aksial menjadi 3662 Psi untuk tipe loop horizontal dan 3670 Psi untuk tipe loop vertikal. Dari kedua tipe loop tersebut kemudian juga dilakukan perbandingan besar tegangan yang terjadi pada bagian elbow. Maka didapatkan bahwa tipe loop horizontal mengalami tegangan relatif lebih kecil dari pada tipe loop vertikal sehingga sebagai bahan rekomendasi maka pemasangan loop horizontal lebih diutamakan.


ABSTRACT

In the buried pipeline is often occur failures of deformation. The failure of global deformation that causes the pipe bend vertically upwards is referred to as Upheaval buckling. Initial curvature of the pipeline is installed can occur due to a combination than rising current operating temperatures and soil friction will generate effective axial compressive force on the pipe. One of the ways that will be discussed in this research if there Upheaval buckling by performing the installation of expansion loops in areas of upheaval buckling. Expansion loop will be varied with 2 types namely horizontal loops and vertical loops. Stages of this research the first pipeline is modeled with a certain length of pipe and then the edges are given a pedestal to obtain the longitudinal stress at 41366.563 Psi. The longitudinal stress exceeds the allowable stress so that the pipeline have thermal expansion or elongation that arced up to 0259 meters of high. So modeling carried out in order to reduce elongation expansion loop with a loop length of 5.3 meters. Both loops are able to reduce axial stress become 3662 psi for horizontal loop type and 3670 Psi for vertical loop type. From both types of loops are then also carried out the comparison large stresses that occurred on the elbow part . So it was found that the type of horizontal loop is stressed relatively smaller than the vertical loop type so as recommendation then the installation of horizontal loop is preferred.
