SYNTHESIS OF MgF2 Fe2O3 Fe2O3MgF2 CATALYST AND ITS CATALYTIC TEST ON REACTION OF PHENOL ACYLATION

ABSTRAK

Pada penelitian ini telah dilakukan sintesis material MgF2 Fe2O3 dan Fe2O3MgF2 dengan variasi loading Fe2O3 25 5 75 10 dan 15 ww. Semua katalis telah dikarakterisasi dengan Difraksi Sinar-X XRD isotherm serapan nitrogen dan adsorbsi piridin FTIR. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa struktur kristal MgF2 bersistem tetragonal dan Fe2O3 bersistem rombohedral. Luas permukaan katalis menurun seiring dengan bertambahnya loading Fe2O3 pada material Fe2O3MgF2. Katalis memiliki sifat asam Lewis dan Brnsted. Aktivitas katalisis dilakukan pada reaksi asilasi fenol dengan asam asetat dan dianalisis dengan High Performance Liquid Chromatography HPLC. Semua katalis aktif dalam pembentukan p-Hydroxyacetophenone p-HAP dengan selektivitas yang tinggi. Katalis dengan loading Fe2O3 5 memiliki konversi fenol 86003 dan yield p- HAP55813 yang optimum. Aktivitas katalis berhubungan dengan sifat keasaman katalis dan yield p-HAP berhubungan dengan keasaman Lewis. Semua katalis hasil impregnasi merupakan katalis heterogen.


ABSTRACT

In this research have been synthesized MgF2 Fe2O3 and Fe2O3MgF2 with various Fe2O3 loading 25 5 75 10 and 15 ww. The all catalysts have been characterized by X-Ray Diffraction XRD nitrogen sorption isotherm and pyridine-adsorbed FTIR. The result showed tetragonal system for MgF2 and rhombohedral system for Fe2O3. The surface area of the catalysts decreased with the increace of Fe2O3 loading in Fe2O3MgF2 material. The catalyst had Lewis and Brnsted acid properties. The acylation of phenol with acetic acid was carried out over all the materials to evaluate their catalytic activity and were analyzed using High Performance Liquid Chromatography HPLC. All the catalysts were found to be active in the formation of p-Hydroxyacetophenone p-HAP with high selectivity. The catalysts with 5 Fe2O3 loading have the optimum conversion of phenol 86003 and yield p-HAP 55813. The catalysts activity were correlated with acidty of catalysts and the yield of p-HAP were correlated with Lewis acidity. The all impregnated catalysts were the heterogeneous catalysts
