PREPARATION OF POROUS CARBON USING IRMOF-3 AND FURFURYL ALCOHOL AS PRECURSOR AND ITS CHARACTERIZATION

ABSTRAK

Kristal IRMOF-3 berhasil disintesis menggunakan metode solvotermal dengan variasi waktu kristalisasi 18 24 48 72 120 dan 144 jam. Difraktogram padatan hasil sintesis menunjukkan puncak karakteristik IRMOF-3 pada 2952 6.8 9.6 and 13.7. Berdasarkan karakterisasi FTIR IRMOF-3 muncul pada bilangan gelombang 169146 14253 123821 131922 dan 350442cm-1. Hasil mikrograf SEM memperlihatkan bahwa kristal IRMOF-3 berbentuk persegi. Kedua kristal IRMOF-3 pada pemanasan 24 IR-24 dan 72 jam IR-72 memiliki tipe IV jenis H1. IR-24 memiliki luas permukaan sebesar 24758 m2g dan IR-72 sebesar 29 139 m2g serta dominan ukuran mesopori. IRMOF-3 yang digunakan sebagai prekursor karbon pertama adalah IR-24 dan IR-72. Material karbon berhasil disintesis menggunakan IR-24 dan IR-72 serta FA sebagai prekursor karbon karbon kedua dengan variasi suhu karbonasi 550 700 dan 850 oC. Hasil XRD kedua material karbon menunjukkan terbentuknya karbon amorf serta muncul puncak ZnO meskipun karbonasi dilakukan pada suhu yang tinggi. Spektra FTIR karbon mengindikasikan hilangnya puncak karakteristik IRMOF-3 dan FA. Hasil karakterisasi SEM dan SEM-EDX memperlihatkan bahwa karbon hasil sintesis tetap memiliki bentuk persegi seperti IRMOF-3 kemudian kadar Zn dan nitrogen semakin menurun seiring dengan bertambahnya suhu karbonasi. Karbon C-24 pada suhu karbonasi 550 700 dan 850 oC berturut-turut memiliki luas permukaan sebesar 270406 374027 dan 1495023 m2g dengan volume pori total 0338 0539 dan 1598 ccg kemudian ukuran porinya 0107 0152 dan 0610 ccg sedangkan C-72 memiliki luas permukaan sebesar 260516 489805 dan 1029668 m2g total volume pori 0390 0727 dan 1345 ccg dan ukuran pori 0065 0157 dan 0381 ccg. Material karbon hasil sintesis yang memiliki porositas tinggi dengan kehadiran atom nitrogen diharapkan mampu meingkatkan sifat mekanik serta penyimpanan gas dari material tersebut.


ABSTRACT

Crystals IRMOF-3 have been successfully synthesized using solvothermal method with variation of cyrstallization time 18 24 48 72 120 and 144 h. The diffractogram solids synthesized show characteristic peak at 2952 6.8 9.6 and 13.7. Based on FTIR characterization IRMOF-3 appear at wavelength gelombang 169146 14253 123821 131922 dan 350442cm-1. SEM micrograph display cubic shape of crystal IRMOF-3. Both crystal IRMOF-3 at heating time 24 h IR- 24 and 72 h IR-72 have IV type and spesific H1. The surface area of IR-24 is 24758 m2g then IR-72 have surface area 29 139 m2g and mesopores dominant. IRMOF-3 that used as first carbon precursor is IR-24 and IR-72. Carbonaceous materials has been successfully synthesized using IR-24 IR-72 and FA as second carbon precursor with variation of carbonation temperature 550 700 dan 850 oC. The XRD result from both carbonaceous materials show formation of amorphous carbon and caharacteristic peak of ZnO oxide. The FTIR spectra of carbon indicates disappearance characteristic peak of IRMOF-3 and FA. The result from SEM and SEM-EDX characterization show carbonaceous materials have cubic shape as IRMOF-3 then Zn and nitrogen content of these materials has decrease with higher carbonation temperature. Carbon C-24 at 550 700 dan 850 oC consecutive has surface area total pore volume and pore size 270406 374027 dan 1495023 m2g 0338 0539 dan 1598 ccg 0107 0152 dan 0610 ccg whereas C-72 have 260516 489805 dan 1029668 m2g 0390 0727 dan 1345 ccg and 0065 0157 dan 0381 ccg. Carbonaceous materials with high porosity and nitrogen content will be expected increase mechanical properties and gas storage from these materials.
