STUDI EKSPERIMEN PENGARUH SUDUT BLADE TIPE SINGLE ROW DISTRIBUTOR PADA SWIRLING FLUIDIZED BED DRYER TERHADAP KARAKTERISTIK PENGERINGAN BATUBARA

EXPERIMENTAL STUDY BLADE ANGLE EFFECT WITH SINGLE ROW DISTRIBUTOR TYPE OF FLUIDIZED BED DRYER ON DRYING CHARACTERISTIC OF COAL

ABSTRAK

Salah satu sumber penghasil energi listrik adalah Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Uap PLTU. Sebagian besar PLTU di Indonesia menggunakan batubara sebagai bahan bakar utama. Penggunaan batubara dengan nilai kalori rendah pada PLTU dapat berpengaruh terhadap kinerja pulverizer. Kinerja pulverizer akan semakin berat dikarenakan kapasitas batubara yang dibutuhkan untuk pembakaran di boiler semakin banyak. Hal tersebut terjadi karena kualitas batubara yang tersedia tidak sesuai dengan spesifikasi desain awal boiler dimana menggunakan batubara kalori tinggi. Berdasarkan kondisi tersebut diperlukan suatu teknologi yang dapat meningkatkan kualitas batubara swirling fluidized bed coal dryer merupakan salah satu teknologi model pengeringan batubara. Penelitian dilakukan dengan studi eksperimen menggunakan model skala alat percobaan yang dirancang oleh peneliti sebelumnya yaitu swirling fluidized bed coal dryer. Udara panas dihembuskan oleh blower ke dalam chamber dengan melewati distributor bed berupa blade yang membentuk sudut sehingga menyebabkan swirling pada udara didalam chamber. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan menimbang massa sampel batubara basah setiap 1 menit sebanyak 5 kali 2 menit sebanyak 3 kali dan 5 menit sebanyak 4 kali sehingga total waktu pengeringan 31 menit.. Percobaan dilakukan dengan variasi sudut blade 107302073030730 dengan massa batubara 600 gram dan ukuran partikel 10 mm pengeringan dilanjutkan menggunakan oven dengan temperatur 1050 C selama 180 menit menurut standard ASTM D 5142 untuk mendapatkan massa sampel batubara kering. Dari hasil eksperimen diketahui bahwa pada sudut blade 10o 20o dan 30o didapat moisture content batubara terendah berturut-turut sebesar 68 76 dan 8 . Untuk laju pengeringan berturut-turut sebesar 000767 kgmenit 00059 kgmenit dan 000452 kgmenit.


ABSTRACT

One of electric energy source is steam power plant. Steam power plant in Indonesia using coal as the primary fuel. The application of low calorie coal can take affect the performance of pulverizer. Pulverizer performance will be hard because the capacity of coal will be increase for combustion in boiler. Because the coal quality does not match with design of boiler which it use the high calorie coal. Under these conditions we need a technology that can improve the quality of coal. The type of coal drying technology is swirling fluidized bed coal dryer. The research is done with experimental prototype laboratorium scale which it was designed by previous researcher of swirling fluidized bed coal dryer. Hot air is blown by blower into the chamber through a angle blade of bed distributor. That distributor causing swirling move in the chamber. Data will be take with weigh the wet coal every 1 minute in 5 times 2 minutes in 3 times and 5 minutes in 4 times for total drying time is 31 minutes. Experiment was done with a variety of blade angle 10730 20730 and 30730 with total mass of coal is 600 gram and a particle size of coal is 10 mm. Next drying using an electric oven with a temperature of 105 C for 180 minutes according to the standard ASTM D 5142 to get the weight of dry coal. From the experimental results it is known that the blade angle of 10o 20o and 30o have moisture content of coal is 68 76 dan 8 . For drying rate is 000767 kgminutes 00059 kgminutes 000452 kgminutes.
