NUMERICAL STUDY OF FLOW CHARACTERISTICS AND HEAT TRANSFER IN 3D U-TUBE HEAT EXCHANGER WITH STRAIGHTEN PLATE VARIATION IN THE INLET REGION AND TUBE LENGTH VARIATION
Author : HADIWIJAYA, LUKMAN ( 2111202002 )
keduanya memiliki perbedaan temperatur.
D 16 mm. Variasi panjang tube L 5 m dibandingkan dengan L 2 m.
Temperatur dinding tube dijaga konstan pada Ts 50 C 323 K temperatur air
masuk Tin 27 C 300 K mass flow rate 119898 02 kgs.
ABSTRACT
U-Tube Heat Exchangers are the most versatile type of heat exchangers.
They are used in process industries such as in feed water heaters. U-tube is used
to achieve a very large heat transfer area per unit volume. The process of
convection heat transfer a surface and a fluid flowing past it that both are
different temperatures. Flow characteristics play a vital role in the design of
many heat related applications where heat transfer concerned.
This study aimed to evaluate the flow characteristics and heat transfer in
3D u-tube heat exchanger which experiences sudden expansion after straighten
plate mounting with the variation of the tube inlet diameter ratio is dD 0.6 and
dD 0.5. They are compared with the original tube D 16 mm. Tube length
variation L 5 m compared with L 2 m. Surface temperature is kept constant
at Ts 50 C 323 K water inlet temperature Tin 27 C 300 K mass flow
rate 0.2 kgs. In the present work numerical study is performed using
numerical methods with software Fluent 6.3.26 and standard k-603 turbulence
models.
The numerical results show that straighten plate mounting with the
variation of the tube inlet diameter ratio dD enhancement of turbulence and
increase heat transfer rate. Tube rasio dD0.5 and tube length L5m provide the
higgest ouput temperature increase 0.4 and more significant ouput
temperature increase 2.2 at tube rasio dD0.5and tube length L2m.
