PERFORMANCE OPTIMATION OF SINJAI BI-FUEL ENGINE GASOLINE AND COMPRESSED NATURAL GAS CNG

ABSTRAK

Compressed Natural Gas CNG merupakan salah satu jenis hydrocarbon yang dapat menggantikan peranan bahan bakar bensin namun ketika engine menggunakan bahan bakar CNG terjadi penurunan kinerja berupa torsi dan daya yang cukup signifikan. Hal ini dikarenakan CNG memiliki karakteristik berupa densitas sebesar 072 kgm3 dan laminar burning velocity CNG sebesar 043 msec dimana kedua karakteristik tersebut memiliki nilai yang lebih rendah daripada karakteristik bahan bakar bensin. Peningkatan kinerja engine ketika menggunakan bahan bakar CNG maka dapat dilakukan dengan cara menambah jumlah pasokan bahan bakar bensin dengan cara merubah besarnya tekanan masuk ke dalam ruang bakar dan dengan merubah besarnya derajat pengapian pada engine. Dalam penelitian ini menggunakan mesin uji yaitu mesin Sinjai 2 silinder 650 cc single fuel yang dimodifikasi menjadi bi-fuel dengan sistem pemasukan bahan bakar port injection. Hasil penelitian saat enginemenggunakan bahan bakar CNG diperoleh tekanan masuk optimum bahan bakar CNG sebesar 25 bar dengan derajat pengapian 140 sebelum Titik Mati Atas TMA dan putaran engine sebesar 3500 rpm dimana pada posisi tersebut menghasilkan torsi sebesar 488 Nm daya sebesar 1938 kW BMEP sebesar 9467 kPa AFR sebesar 1646 efisiensi volumetris sebesar 4828 dan SFC sebesar 026 kgkWh selain itu juga nilai emisi CO menjadi sebesar 04 dan HC sebesar 60 ppm.


ABSTRACT

Compressed Natural Gas CNG is one type of hydrocarbon that can replace the role of gasoline but when the engine using CNG fuel a decline in performance in the form of torque and power significantly. This is because CNG is characterized by a density of 0.72 kgm3 and the laminar burning velocity of CNG by 0.43 msec where both of these characteristics have a lower value than gasoline fuel characteristics. Improved engine performance when using CNG fuel it can be done by increasing the number of gasoline fuel supply by changing the amount of pressure into the combustion chamber and the magnitude of the degree of change in the engine ignition. In this study using the test machine Sinjai 2-cylinder engine of 650 cc single fuel which is modified into bi-fuel intake system with port fuel injection. Research results when engines using fuel CNG obtained optimum pressure in CNG fuel of 25 bar with degrees ignition 140 Before Top Dead Centre BTDC and the engines of 3500 rpm where as on the position of the torque generating 488 Nm power of 19.38 kW BMEP of 9467 kPa AFR of 1646 volumetric efficiency of 4828 and SFC amounted to 0.26 kgkWh. In addition the emission values CO being of 0.4 and HC of 60 ppm.
