ABSTRAK

Proses pengecoran dilakukan dengan cara mencairkan logam dalam dapur pelebur kemudian dituangkan ke dalam cetakan dan dibiarkan membeku hingga dapat dikeluarkan dari dalam cetakan. Metode pengecoran yang paling sering digunakan adalah pengecoran cetakan pasir sand casting. Faktor yang berpengaruh terhadap kualitas hasil pengecoran cetakan pasir diantaranya adalah komposisi cetakan pasir dan perancangan sistem saluran gatting system. Penentuan komposisi cetakan pasir dan perancangan sistem saluran harus tepat untuk mencegah cacat yang sering terjadi dan untuk mendapatkan hasil coran yang optimal. Salah satu komposisi utama cetakan pasir adalah pasir cetak pasir silika semen dan air dengan bahan penambah berupa serbuk kayu yang berfungsi untuk meningkatkan sifat colapsability dari sebuah cetakan. Pada penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa pengaruh variasi komposisi serbuk kayu dengan pengikat semen pada pasir cetak terhadap cacat porositas dan kekasaran permukaan hasil pengecoran aluminium alloy 6061. Bahan yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah aluminium Alloy 6061 dengan metode sand casting dimana sistem saluran menggunakan parting line-horizontal gatting system dengan tujuan mempermudah pembuatan serta pengambilan pola dari cetakan pasir. Kemudian membandingkan permeabilitas dan kompresi terhadap variasi komposisi pasir cetak dimana komposisi semen dan air sebesar 6 komposisi serbuk kayu sebesar 1 2 3 4 5 dan 6 komposisi pasir silika sebesar 87 86 85 84 83 dan 82. Kemudian hasil coran diukur dan dianalisa terhadap cacat porositas dan kekasaran permukaan. Dari hasil penelitian ini didapatkan nilai uji permeabilitas pasir cetak terkecil terletak pada komposisi serbuk kayu sebesar 1 dan nilainya sebesar 1847 cmmnt sedangkan nilai uji permeabilitas pasir cetak terbesar terletak pada komposisi serbuk kayu sebesar 6 dan nilainya sebesar 2673 cmmnt. Nilai uji kompresi pasir cetak didapatkan nilai terkecil terletak pada komposisi serbuk kayu sebesar 6 dan nilainya sebesar 1767 kNm2 sedangkan nilai uji kompresi pasir cetak terbesar terletak pada komposisi serbuk kayu sebesar 1 dengan nilainya sebesar 2883 kNm2. Nilai pengujian porositas benda hasil coran didapatkan nilai terkecil terletak pada komposisi serbuk kayu 6 dan nilainya sebesar 025 sedangkan nilai pengujian porositas benda hasil coran terbesar terletak pada komposisi serbuk kayu 1 dengan nilai sebesar 496. Nilai pengujian kekasaran permukaan benda hasil coran didapatkan nilai terkecil terletak pada komposisi serbuk kayu 6 dan nilainya sebesar 006m sedangkan nilai pengujian kekasaran permukaan benda hasil coran terbesar terletak pada komposisi serbuk kayu 1 dengan nilai sebesar 200m.


ABSTRACT

Casting process is done by means of a metal melt in the fuser kitchen then poured into molds and allowed to set up to be taken out of the mold. Casting method most commonly used is sand casting. Factors that affect the quality of sand casting including the composition of the sand molds and designing gatting systems. Determination of the composition of the sand molds and designing the duct system must be appropriate to prevent defects that often occur and to obtain optimal results castings. One of the main composition is a sand mold molding sand silica sand cement and water with an addition of materials such as wood dust which serves to improve the properties of a mold colapsability. In this study aims to analyze the effect of variations in the composition of wood dust with cement binder in molding sand against defects porosity and surface roughness of an aluminum casting alloy 6061. Materials used in this study is 6061 aluminum alloy sand casting method in which the channel system using line-horizontal partings Gatting system in order to facilitate decision-making as well as the pattern of the sand mold. Then compare the permeability and compression molding sand to variations in composition wherein the composition of cement and water by 6 wood powder composition of 1 2 3 4 5 and 6 silica composition of 87 sand 86 85 84 83 and 82. Then the castings were measured and the results analyzed for porosity defects and surface roughness. From the results of this study the value of the smallest print sand permeability test lies in the composition of wood dust at 1 and the value of 184.7 cmmin while the value of the permeability of molding sand biggest test lies in the composition of wood dust by 6 and the value of 267.3 cmmin. Value of test compression molding sand obtained the smallest value lies in the composition of wood dust by 6 and the value of 176.7 kNm2 while the value of the compression molding sand biggest test lies in the composition of wood dust at 1 with the value of 288.3 kNm2. Value objects porosity testing results obtained castings smallest value lies in the composition of sawdust 6 and the value of 0.25 while the value of the porosity test results castings largest object lies in the composition of sawdust 1 with a value of 4.96. The value of the objects surface roughness testing results obtained castings smallest value lies in the composition of sawdust 6 and value by 006m while the value of the objects surface roughness testing results of the largest castings lies in the composition of sawdust 1 with a value of 200m.
