SISTEM MONITORING KUALITAS AIR SUNGAI YANG DILENGKAPI DENGAN DATA LOGGER DAN KOMUNIKASI WIRELESS SEBAGAI MEDIA PENGAWASAN PENCEMARAN LIMBAH CAIR

ABSTRAK

Sebagian besar sungai di Indonesia telah mengalami pencemaran. Pencemaran ini diakibatkan oleh pembuangan limbah dari industri rumah sakit maupun rumah tangga tanpa melalui proses dekomposisi limbah menjadi bahan yang ramah lingkungan. Limbah-limbah buangan industri tersebut memiliki kandungan logam berat yang dapat mempengaruhi kadar pH dan oksigen terlarut dalam air. Indikator umum pada pemeriksaan pencemaran air adalah pH dan kadar oksigen terlarut Dissolved Oxygen DO yang merupakan dua dari beberapa parameter penting dalam pengukuran standar kualitas air. Proses pengukuran parameter-parameter kualitas air yang dilakukan oleh BLH Badan Lingkungan Hidup dalam rangka mengawasi pembuangan limbah industri hingga saat ini masih dilakukan secara manual dan dalam periode tertentu saja. Oleh karena itu pada tugas akhir ini telah diimplementasikan sebuah sistem monitoring kualitas air sungai yang dilengkapi dengan data logger dan komunikasi wireless sebagai media pengawasan pencemaran limbah cair. Sistem ini menggunakan sensor DO dan pH produk Atlas Scientific. Data nilai DO dan pH yang telah diakusisi akan disimpan pada data logger menggunakan media MMC Multi Media Card dan dikirimkan ke kantor pusat pengawasan melalui SMS Short Message Service menggunakan modem GSM Global System for Mobile. Sistem monitoring ini memiliki rerata kesalahan 112 pada pengukuran kadar oksigen terlarut dan 088 pada pengukuran pH dalam suatu cairan.


ABSTRACT

Most of the rivers in Indonesia have been contaminated. This contamination caused by disposal of waste from industry hospital and household without going through decomposition process of waste into environmental friendly materials. Industrial waste contains heavy metal that can affect the pH and DO Dissolved Oxygen level in the water. General indicator of water pollution examination are pH and dissolved oxygen which are two of several important parameters in the measurement of water quality standards. Measurement process of water quality parameters performed by BLH Badan Lingkungan Hidup in order to monitor the disposal of industrial waste is still done manually and in a certain period. Therefore in this final project has been implemented a monitoring system of river water quality equipped with data logger and wireless communication for monitoring media of liquid waste pollution. This system uses DO sensor and pH sensor product of Atlas Scientific. DO and pH value that has been acquired is stored in the data logger using MMC Multi Media Card and sent to the central monitoring station via SMS Short Message Service using GSM Global System of Mobile modem. This monitoring system has a 11.2 average error at dissolved oxygen measurement and 0.88 at pH measurement in a liquid.
