HIDROCRACKING MINYAK BIJI KAPUK CEIBA PENTANDRA DENGAN KATALIS PADAT NICOMOY-AL2O3

HYDROCRACKING OF COTTON SEED OIL Ceiba pentandra WITH NiCoMoy-Al2O3 SOLID CATALYST

ABSTRAK

Uji aktivitas katalis NiCoMoy-Al2O3 untuk proses hidrocracking minyak biji kapuk Ceiba pentandra menjadi biofuel telah dilakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui preparasi dan karteristik katalis padat NiCoMoy-Al2O3 mengetahui aktivitas katalis NiCoMoy-Al2O3 yang diukur dari yield katalis pada reaksi hidrocracking minyak biji kapuk dan mempelajari pengaruh temperatur waktu reaksi dan loading Ni pada reaksi hidrocracking minyak biji kapuk. Katalis dibuat dengan metode impregnasi dimana logam Ni diimpregnasikan pada CoMoy-Al2O3 sehingga menjadi katalis NiCoMoy-Al2O3. Katalis tersebut kemudian di oven pada temperatur 110oC selama 24 jam dilanjutkan kalsinasi dengan menggunakan aliran udara pada temperatur 500oC selama 5 jam reduksi pada temperatur 400oC selama 4 jam. Karakterisasi katalis meliputi penentuan luas permukaan spesifik diameter pori dan volume total pori menggunakan metode BET dan X-ray Diffraction untuk mengetahui kekristalan dan komponen pada katalis. Proses hidrorengkah dilakukan dalam reaktor batch pada temperatur 300 330 dan 360oC dengan waktu reaksi 1 1.5 2 jam. Liquid hasil hidrorengkah kemudian ditampung dan dianalisis dengan kromatografi gas GC dan kromatografi gas-spektrometer massa GC-MS. Hasil karakterisasi katalis menunjukkan bahwa secara umum setelah diimpregnasi dengan Ni luas permukaan spesifik dan volume total pori mengalami penurunan sedangkan diameter pori mengalami kenaikan. Katalis terbaik diperoleh pada loading Ni 10 yang mempunyai luas permukaan sebesar 225.511 m2gr diameter pori 3.837 nm dan volume pori 0.374 ccgr. Proses hidrocracking dengan katalis NiCoMo- Al2O3 dengan loading Ni 10 menghasilkan yield gasolin maksimum 55.85 yield kerosin 41.95 yield solar 23.05. Temperatur reaksi berpengaruh pada yield gasolin kerosin dan solar. Secara keseluruhan semakin tinggi temperatur diperoleh yield gasolin kerosin dan solar yang dihasilkan menurun. Hasil analisa GCMS produk biofuel melalui proses hidrocracking minyak biji kapuk dengan katalis NiCoMo-Al2O3 mengandung senyawa berupa gugus paraffin gugus aromatik hidrokarbon gugus isoparaffin gugus olefin dan gugus sikloalkana.


ABSTRACT

Catalyst activity test of NiCoMo -Al2O3 for the hydrocracking process of cotton seed oil Ceiba pentandra into biofuels has been done. This research aim are to know preparation and charateristic of catalyst solid NiCoMo -Al2O3 knowing the activity of NiCoMo -Al2O3 catalyst which is measured from yield with hydrocracking reaction of cotton seed oil and study influence of temperature time reaction and loading of Ni with hydrocracking reaction of cotton seed oil. The catalyst was made by impregnation method. where the metal of Ni is impregnated in CoMo-Al2O3 so that become NiCoMo-Al2O3 catalyst. Later the catalyst ovened at 110oC followed by calcination at 500oC for 5 hours the reduction at 400oC for 4 hours. The catalysts characterization include the determining specific surface area of the catalysts the diameter pore and total pore volume using BET method and X - ray diffraction to determine the crystallation and components of catalysts. Hydrocracking process carried out in a batch reactor at temperatures of 300oC 330oC and 360oC with reaction time is 1 1.5 and 2 hours. Then the liquid hydrocracking results are collected and analyzed by GC and GC - MS. The characterization results show that in general after Ni has been impregnated the specific surface area and total pore volume has decreased while the pore of diameter has increased. The best of catalyst is obtained at loading Ni is 10 with having surface area equal to 225.511 m2gr diameter pore is 3.837 nm and volume pore is 0.374 cc gr. Hydrocracking process with NiCoMo-Al2O3 catalyst produced the maximum of yield of gasoline is 55.85 kerosene is 41.95 diesel is 23.05. Temperature reaction is affected the yield of gasoline kerosene and diesel. Over all result in more high of temperature is obtained the yield of gasoline kerosene and diesel is decreased. From the result of GCMS analysis for the product liquid biofuel cotton seed oil Ceiba pentandra by the hydrocracking process with NiCoMo-Al2O3 catalyst has contained compounds are paraffin hydrocarbon aromatic isoparaffins olefins and sikloalkana.
